Framework released a convertable tablet laptop, the Framework 12. It’s screen is compatible with certain styluses so it would make a pretty good drawing tablet. This is sort of what I’ve been looking for in a new drawing thing - something small and sturdy that I can fix later on. A lot of reviews say the specs are pretty meh and there’s some built quality issues. Also having a plastic chassis means a lot of flex. Tempted. I dunno if I want a second laptop though (that said, I have…several I use on a regular basis so who knows)

it’s amazing to me that everyone predicted this would be a disastrously stupid and ineffective law and it’s actually way dumber than any of us thought somehow

thank you MR. OBVIOUS

So apparently the Framework 12’s pen display is compatable with my surface pro’s pen, I just need something to run clip studio paint, and some people are figuring out color profiles that mitigate the display’s lack of color profile. So tempted now…

I’m a simple man with a reasonable years old 1080p television that just uses whatever hdmi cables are plugged into it on whatever hardware I need an hdmi cable for. Should I care what kind of hdmi cables these are or am I fine in ignorance?

No.

HDMI signal integrity is something you would only need to worry about if your cables are egregiously long (dozens of feet).

I mean, use whichever HDMI cable you want, but don’t complain when your weak cable shielding doesn’t stop you from getting a virus.

My lenovo rewards arrived today. Slowly adding more and more usb drives to my keychain. Eventually there will be more of those than keys.

The time has come, I need to call upon the dark powers of this thread to help me

I summon you, hardware perverts, to aid me in my quest

My desktop speakers finally died. They make a constant clicking sound and only produce audio intermittently. I want to replace them. My budget is low (sub 200 dollars) and they don’t need to be anything more than decent. I have headphones that I am happy with if I really need sound quality

I do not have enough open usb slots for usb powered speakers to make sense and I also have a dedicated soundcard (functioning eax on old video games is worth it to me)

So, what are my options? What’s good? Are there cheap chinese speakers punching above their weight class that come in anime girl packaging like my earbuds did? Or am I just stuck buying name brand stuff

just be a normal person and go to a Goodwill or something and buy a 30-40 year old stereo amp/receiver and some bookshelf speakers (I don’t reasonably think it matters with 20XX displays if they’re shielded or not)

you can’t trust me though, I’m in league with Big Speaker. did you know if you buy a center speaker you can hear dialogue in cinema mixes?

Moondrop is doing headphones now so it’s only a matter of years before we get chifi speakers with animes on them

my local goodwill is useless and I do not have the room for bookshelf speakers and a receiver, but I appreciate the normal person suggestion

if you want decent and dont have room for a sub Id go back to the classics and get some Yamaha Model YST-M8s. You can get em for 30-40 all day on ebay. They sound pretty good at moderate volume and they are CRT safe. They come in old computer grey and black. I have great nostaligia for them and have owned several sets including a pair I made into a boom box for the garage.

If you do have room for a sub Id get the Klipsch pro media 2.1. The lil desktop speakers are quite small and sound very clean. They can be very loud. Bass is great. I love these plugged into my sega genesis
