Losing my mind at just how fuckinā dark it is in this castle.
At least I opened the shortcut before beefing it once again.

I met the boys. The big fellas.
I didā¦OK, I think, for the first go? Got Smough under half. But I died anyway.
Didnāt help that I ran like a coward from those huge knights in the main hall, and one of them managed to stab me through the fog gate from the start.
Taking damage before you even leave the fog gate really sets the tone for fighting Ornstein and Smough.
Really donāt wanna summon (I want to Be Brave and Strong, and also Iāve only got a handful of humanities left), but holy moly this fight is a rough one.
Maybe the fourth time, Iāll remember that while the pillar stumps are good to stand behind, ya gotta have a little distance, because Ornsteinās spear has noclip enabled.
The good news I guess is that Iām doing a lot more damage to these guys than I anticipated? Granted, I figure blocking these guys is a vain effort, so Iām dual-handing my trusty longsword, but Iām carving a good amount with each swing.
Certainly doing better in the damage department than I did against Sif.
Cleared the area. Summoned Solaire. He beefed it but I was determined. Took out Smough, he and Ornstein at near-death, and
My heart is breakingā¦
I decided to go to the Harryhausen. All Iāve got is a +1 divine mace and whatās left of my determination. Gonna see where this goes (so far, to a bunch of statues that stab me, some severed screaming heads, a few fire hobos, and a whole lotta skeletons).
Iāve been playing this game with an open mind to every encounter. Some real ātake a deep breath, nod, and say āthatās fair, itās a surmountable challenge once you learn it,ā nodā mindset.
Then I fell into that cave full of skeletons with their Big Wheels and 600 mile aggro range.
eyyyy
yeah i think my only strategy there on repeat visits was to book it ASAP
I found a solution, but it only would have ever worked if I hadnāt gone about this in such a meandering way.
Pinwheelās Mask + Havelās Ring + Havelās Armor = Big Boy Mode. Just tanked their attacks until I could rush in and slash them, or fire orb them if they were clustered together.
Curiosity got the better of me and I tried to go into the Tomb of Giants and oh no. I got really lucky that one of the fireball guys dropped a lantern, but that seems like hell.
Gonna see if I can utilize Big Boy Mode against the two that are giving me a rough time in Anor Londo.
Gotten to Smoughās second stage twice, once a with a summon and once without. Died a few seconds in.
I guess thatās progress. I donāt know anymore.
Iāve accepted itās gonna take me like 300 hours to beat this game. Fine. OK. I can handle that.
So now Iām grinding green and large titanite shards in The Depths (I know the leeches give more, Iām playing it safe), slowly leveling up a Fire Short Sword, and planning on making another long sword into a lightning variant.
That way, hopefully, maybe, I can go hog wild with these things, and not have to worry about applying resins in combat.
My pro tip for O&S is to abandon lock on if you havenāt already. This way you can keep both in full view and it makes dodging the attacks a lot easier.
Leveled up that fire short sword, forgetting that short swords donāt have damage scaling
Ah well, I know where to get more green titanite if I need it.
Quelaagās sword is too dang heavy, and I gotta level it up a lot to make it worth my time, it seems like.
I gotta take a break from this. These boysā¦theyāre just too much.
Gotta look at my list and find something to mess with in the interim.
I went inside the painting. This place is hell. Only one (?) bonfire. Gross dudes that toxify you. Freaky harpies that kill you if they grab you. A constant dry-heaving noise. Awful. And I canāt get out.
this land is peaceful, its inhabitants kind
They keep burpinā fire at me. Rudest land.
Beat that area. Sorry, Priscilla.
Guess Iāve got options ahead of me now. Those orange doors are all open, so I guess Iāll trudge up that hill from Anor Londo. Only other place I can think of (that I bailed from real quick) was that tomb with all the huge skeletons. And even then, to get back there, I gotta deal with those bonewheel jerks.
