god, i'm so sorry (superhero-comicbook nonsense)

went on kind of a peter david kick for some reason, starting w/ spider-man 2099, which i remember reading the first issue of when i was a little kid and being extremely taken aback by. a couple pages of a creepily silent spiderman fighting cops and then it turns out he’s a light averse mutant vampire thing that purposefully climbed into a telepod as a way to kick neo-heroin. also his dayjob is experimenting on people for one of those cyberpunk megacorps and there’s a good extremely gross scene of one of the other failed mutations crumpling into a pile of goo. so it was funny to reread it with my original reaction in mind but this time getting more of a kick from the ways it goes the extra mile to be perverse. i like that the future spiderman starts out as a highhanded evil yuppie and as the series progresses he remains a highhanded evil yuppie but just a teeny bit less so.
it’s funny to me that every david protagonist seems to be such a jackass. i read some of his hulk run and liked it not quite as much but tremendously enjoyed the moment when the “healed” smart hulk appears, representing the unification of id ego what have you, and turns out to be this totally insufferable vulgar nietzschean bro as a result.

anyway mostly posting abt it bc i liked this part of one of the covers

I fell off on Spider-Man 2099 just before he became thor, but I remembered loving it. Ended up taking my meager savings over to Ghost Rider 2099 when that hit.

They’re doing a punisher “special presentation” on Disney Plus and he’s also going to be in the new spider man movie

He does kill a bunch of cops in the new daredevil series if you’re into that sort of thing

oh right he’s going to be in some spiderman movie that might be what these are from

I guess if I was willing to toss on Thunderbolts (don’t do that by the way) I can try a Spiders Man for Jon

I think “special presentation” is basically their new way of saying “made for tv movie” but big jon himself is co-writing that one so it could turn out interesting. His passion for the character is really a rarity in this era of marvel. I’m glad they’re starting to use those characters in the big movies but I’m afraid it’s just going to make them suck rather than make the movies good

I mean the Punisher TV show ain’t great either it just has lots of Bernthal content that makes it worth it if you’re a big Bernhead.

That said I still can’t bring myself to watch any Daredevil regardless of how much Jon they put in it so I guess I still have some dignity left.

They have not yet tricked me into watching the punisher for big jon but I do love seeing him living his best life doing this dumb operator bullshit he really just seems to have a passion for talking to other bearded men about their trauma and shit which is like great I guess. He was the best part of The Accountant and that movie is total dogshit. I still can’t beleive ben afflecks stupid sriracha guy character stood him up on their lunch date. He should have shot him in the fucking head for that one. Bernthals character literally like pours his heart out in that scene its so bullshit

Yeah I sort of liked the netflix daredevil but the lawyer parts are hilariously bad and seem specifically designed to terrorize you personally. I only watched the first episode of the new one and it sucked a lot. No idea about the rest but I hear kingpin graphically crushes a mans entire head with his hands in one scene. So yeah.

this is unrelated to comics unfortunately but cuba should watch the movie “shakedown” to see peter weller play the coolest movie public defender of all time

Ho lee shit I never heard of this, it looks like an absolute banger

I’m not even exaggerating when I say you’re not mentally prepared for just how comically enormous Sam Elliott’s gun is. Spend some time when you watch it taking in those sleazy times square theater marquees because every single one has an amazing list of movies on them. Oh to be a holly woodlawn-style t-slur seeing 7 badass 80s movies a day in a building that smells like cum…it almost made me feel like I was missing out on the past for once. Ok maybe not this theater though even though Death Wish 4 is hilarious

Movie also is probably some of the best action Glickenhaus ever directed too. I don’t want to suck its dick too much but it has the grittiness of a hk corrupt cop movie, is loaded with great New York character actors, and peter weller grins like a madman at hyper realistic toilet graffiti that says FAG POWER as a little treat for people like me in the audience

Would you be shocked to learn it is impossible to search for the Loki TV Show on this website? I watched the season 1 finale Jonathan Majors reveal on youtube about 4 times and enjoyed it each time so used my family’s Bluey delivery app to watch that episode in full, and decided I need some context. Boring story, I’ve now watched 9 of the 12 episodes in a completely random order.

I enjoy the performances, I love how a fool would say it looks like control when it looks identical to Fassbinder’s World On a Wire. WoaW is also very orange and teal but that is just the color things are in that TVShow-Movie.

I have enjoyed myself and realized this is a precious resource in enjoyment that I must try and protect because there are only 3 more and then that’s spent.

I don’t think they could have foreshadowed this twist in Peacemaker S2 harder if they tried, but the way Cena unfolds the little desk flag in this screenshot I stole online is still a pretty good reveal (mostly because he gets dunked on for having been oblivious to the alternate universe being entirely white )
