I always wanted to see state media get that stupid, never imagined it could actually just be in this movie

Sincerely love the commitment to the aspect ratio and I’m now morbidly curious at what this would even look like cropped to flat or scope.

I wouldn’t watch this ever again but Snyder has definitely embarrassed Feige and Whedon by making a movie.

I’m happy to see this movie continues with the weird dream shit that had batman hallucinate the bug filled post-apocalypse in BvS.

On one hand I thought it was fine and I can’t imagine the releasethesydercut nerds were any more obnoxious or forced than a lot of the snobbish backlash I’ve seen to this thing on twitter.

On the other hand, I wish I was dead:

Falcon and the winter soldier do not interact with one another in the first episode of Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and the winter soldier forcefully and definitively rejects the title “the winter soldier” I feel kind of robbed

Otherwise, much to the chagrin of like 90% of this web page, I really liked it. It is tonally pretty similar to the second Captain America movie which is still peak MCU to me. But it also has lots of serious actors talking seriously about utterly nonsensical post endgame canon back story about half the planet being wiped out and then returning.

I think that kind of like network TV genre melodrama stuff like Sleepy Hollow and X Files is just way more accessible to me as camp than the CW DC shows, which just seem too gleefully unsubtle about their absurdity. I can’t help it, I fucking love it when Oscar contenders have to emote emotionally about the way interdimensional war crimes make them feel

the snyder cut will either be transforming of superhero movie landscape in the weirdest way where studios actually let directors do more than decide how to film s closeup on a billion dollar actors forehead and we get wong kar wai’s b’wana beast movie or ridiculed so hard that the studio system begins to think the problem os being not homogenous enough

it’s hard for me to imagine this could have any impact at all because it’s so much less than the sum of its parts

it’s not terrible but it feels like several hours of b-roll thrown together without any regard for pacing, extremely heavy handed lighting and colour grading, a soundtrack that refuses to have any fun, and excessively busy CGI. it abuses HDR to a degree that seems like it’s supposed to help you calibrate the contrast on your TV. even so I felt like they gave ben affleck and ray fisher vastly better opportunities to actually anchor the movie, but it’s hardly some big sumptuous vision, it just feels like they had more VFX money than they knew what to do with. very God of War 2018.

considering not watching past this powerful bat image but I know I won’t be strong enough : (

snyder leaning batfleck even further into massive Dark Knight Returns batbod mode then having him ping-pong around like a 19 year old parkour savant made of 89% straight vfx interlaced with moments like this and I just

this mess is so huge and fetish-driven I have to break off small pieces for individual processing

Now that we’re living in an auteur restoration can we get a director’s cut of Freddy Got Fingered on Disney+

I know a lot of people here have problems with the Snyder Cut, but worry not. Snyder has fixed them all.

I’ve decided that my expectations from live action super hero media are now based entirely on whether or not it’s possible to have even a vague sense of what the ambient temperature is supposed to be in any given scene, and by this metric this looks like it might be the best super hero movie ever made

I have a pretty strict policy of trying to ignore super hero media, but I gotta say, this one kinda got me interested.

I saw so many actual…shots, like a movie would have.

Everything doesn’t look like a glowy video game.

The jokes land.

Starro is in it

Seems worth a watch on my folks Max account.
