Games You Played Today ver.1.22474487139...

playing more mega drive games because my tv only has one hdmi port and i’m too lazy to swap them back, i discovered something weird. i have a legit pal copy of mercs, but my clone console will only play it if it’s set to ntsc.

i think i’m still in the part of it that people say is slow but i’m extremely impressed with judgment so far. i’m almost embarrassed how much i enjoyed just drone-flying around kamurocho, the novelty of looking down at the champion district from above was powerful

3% you say?

I do believe I have got the vapors

after all the people playing the horizon sequel and complaining about the endless mindless yammering, i was at a friend’s house recently while he was playing hades, and even a game like that that was a big internet darling for a while, the main character just never shuts up!
the worst of it was when he was buying a bunch of items, and every single purchase had the guy making a little quip “that’ll do nicely” “here’s the gems” “thanks” “here you go”

how do people tolerate this shit for hours at a time?

Perhaps the worst offender in my experience also happens to be one of my all-time favorite games, Growlanser 2. Those Working Designs voice actors making bad jokes after every action were unbearable (but fortunately could be shut off).

I recently tried out the GBA version of Super Mario 3 and was somewhat shocked to discover that not only did they add voices but you hear the same handful of bad voice samples incessantly. It’s really quite heinous. And of course there’s no option to shut that off. And that’s on top of ruining the graphics.

I would recommend getting one of those HDMI switches. The ones you can find cheap online work just fine in my experience and they automatically switch to whatever console you turn on. (There’s also a physical button in case you have two things running at once and need to switch between them.)

Wolfgang’s voice actor was absolutely incredible though! But yeah, the rest were mostly pretty awful.

i did get one from aliexpress, but it keeps cutting the signal at random. i think it might need an external power source to be more reliable, there’s a port for one, at least.

i should look into that sometime

Been playing a fair amount of Peglin, and despite being both Steam trash (i.e., it’s just two existing game ideas jammed together) and also too-early-access (feels more like a game jam game than even an early access game) it’s pretty good!

Honestly the roguelike card/dice/etc.-battler genre is, outside of Slay the Spire, mostly pretty boring and bad so the decision to combine it with a game that frequently does things you don’t want in a fun and unpredictable way spices up the formula enough to be interesting. It just desperately needs at least another year of active development

Its on a fire element weapon tho

cannot imagine the garbage game that doesn’t have elemental reactions and you just got a huge damage bonus for throwing ice at an enemy on fire and giving them an ice burn

I’ve always got to bump my friend’s Roundguard, which I think does the 'dungeon Peggle concept way more justice:

It’s even paired with Peglin in a “Pegglelike Rougelikes” bundle.

oh, I definitely need to catch up and talk to them, that’s real interesting

It’s funny that there are multiple peggle roguelikes. Game developers have literally one idea challenge

It is one idea, and it’s a pretty good one! Games are toys, too

It’s not one idea—it’s two of someone else’s ideas, one of which was also some else’s idea several times before that

I’ve been playing Warframe.

Lots of Warframe.

I sawed the Void Demons.

Also the Grineer.

That looks like a sad post.

So, I replaced one of my Banshee power swaps (previously Xata’s Whisper to make her even better at killing Sentients for reasons that no longer exist due to balance changes) for Mag’s Pull. So, at the touch of a button I can perceive enemies (along with their weakspots) in all directions around me, drag them to me with Pull, fling them away with my own “Sonic Boom” power (rather than a long-range cone vacuum like Pull, it’s a short range cone push+ragdoll), and stun and disable them with Silence.

And yes, she has a lightsaber, because of course.
