Also, you’re going to learn to just start routing sprint paths through familiar areas soon enough. This is especially true in Demon’s where enemy pathfinding and aggro ranges were still quite crude, comparatively. No one’s asking you to exhaustively inch your way through every time; too much trepidation can at times actually be to your detriment.
It’s like 1CC’ing an arcade game. I’m no 1337 gamer, but eventually I could roll through any level in Demon’s with pretty much any character type/weapon.
are you not playing online? I’ve been relying on “beginners should try this area later” styled messages for the entire experience so far
a good rule of thumb in souls games is to avoid difficult fights whenever possible. there’s usually some way around the super difficult fights so you can revisit them later
I finished the story missions in Destiny which left me with a huge “that’s it?!” feeling. The story really isn’t very good, especially since it’s a lot of telling and not showing, especially in regards to the traveller. You hear about it protecting the Earth and stuff, but it’s just hanging in the background in one area and has no role in the story, really. Same with hearing a bout the Vex turning planets into machines but you don’t see anything cool like that. Well, the story wa just bad in general.
The missions were all pretty samey and not that exciting, with the gunplay the only thing to keep me playing. I still haven’t done the vault of glass though, so we’ll see how that is. Are the expansions and The Taken King worth getting or is it more of the same? I don’t think I’ll bother if there aren’t any marked improvements.
The only reason to play Destiny is to grind and gear up for the raids and The Most Current Content but it’s 2016 and there is no current content and the only thing in Destiny that isn’t totally mediocre are the raids and you can’t do those alone and I don’t know why you’re playing Destiny in 2016 I don’t know why anyone is playing Destiny in 2016 I don’t know why Destiny I don’t I can’t
It’s okay. You can stop now. It doesn’t get better. The Taken King’s story missions are nice once, but no it isn’t worth $40 to play five hours of more Destiny if you aren’t committed to the dead lifestyle of the Light grind and the weekly raid and the milquetoast PvP.
I doubt I’ll have trouble finding people to do raids with, there are still a lot of people playing and people always seem to accept invites to my fireteam. It’s not dead as people seem to think, but of course I can only assume it’s not nearly as populated as it once was. I’m still glad I got to experience it, but I’m also glad I waited for it to be cheap even if I missed out on the hey day.
Well if you want to grind to Level 40 and grind to 300 Light to do the raid, spend your $40 on The Taken King (comes with the other expansions) and then you get 20+ hours of somewhat better Destiny and then however much you want to repeat that.
There is still no story.
You will also be dragged through every raid you do with explicit instructions every second and no thrill of discovery because everyone has already done them all week after week, clockwork, and they know and adhere to the cheesiest and most efficient ways.
You will need to copy YouTube video walkthroughs to collect 45 out of 50 fragments on a ship in order to obtain the OP meme weapon everyone must use for the raid boss fights.
Is Vault of Glass the only Raid in vanilla Destiny? If so, how many more are there in The Taken King? That info plus how much I actually enjoy the vault will be the deciding factor for me picking up Taken King
the more I play demon’s, the more it feels like a 90’s fps. the level design just kinda has that quality to it. reminds me in particular of clive barker’s undying, even though that game was a lot more on rails.
Yeah, 90s FPSes (also Mario 64) were playful and exploratory with space and verticality, designed more from diagrams and geometrical patterns than trying to ape a real-world environment. Miyazaki has said the seed of all the Souls games is also high-level map design concepts that are then filled in with more and more details.
