Games You Played Today ##RELOAD

I barely spend 20 hours with games I enjoy. Indeed it does rule.

Yeah I kind of got that impression from that first stage. I wonder how far down the rabbit hole I’ll get.

so, uh, today’s Google doodle…

ya i love jackass place its in roer, the industrial capital!!

Mankind Divided is pretty fun so far. I’ve spent several hours with it and it’s almost entirely been spent picking up and doing side quests and exploring Prague. First thing I did was turn off the objective markers since I don’t want my exploration to be guided by anything other my own curiosity. It’s been fun getting to know the few streets of Prague and comparing them to the more cramped Detroit from the last game. It’s all pretty wide open in this one but with even more spaces to get to and things to see in them.

I don’t have much of a take on the story yet since I’ve only played the prologue and haven’t started the first actual mission yet but I really liked seeing Bob Page and hearing all these references to Janus. Reviewers seemed to indicate that the story overall wasn’t as good as previous games because it was mainly focused on the bombing that happens after the prologue and not the overarching grand conspiracy the series is known for being about, but I’m crossing my fingers that there’ll be enough hidden text and stuff that shows the story and the world moving towards the nanomachine-fueled future of the original game. Basically, I’m hoping that story-wise this game is just the middle part of a really good three part prequel story leading up to the original games.

I like that even though there’s relatively few new skills compared to your original skills you have to permanently disable an original one in order to use a new one. I ditched the typhoon blast ability in favor of the new Blink-eqsue dash and maxed that out as soon as possible. Much like Blink from Dishonored it greatly facilitates exploration of the world and getting to higher up, harder to reach spaces.

Head-to-head gunplay isn’t very good but that may be a combination of me playing on Give Me Deus Ex and not having put any point into the gun-handling skill. I decided to be a lethal killing machine and have upgraded my combat rifle some, put a laser sight, a silencer and a scope on it but so far have just been sneaking around knocking people out like I did in Human Revolution. Old habits I guess.

I put on REvelations cos its Halloween!!! Game is fine.
Maybe even… fun

I thought it was a very appreciable effort of making a decent game with the right amount of obstinate controls and gun fun. Some of the gun mods can get silly but feel just right for being a video game.

i played yakuza: dead souls today and i felt like my soul was dead because i couldn’t do wrestling moves on the zombies. guns suck

Forgot to play a halloween themed game (oops) but I played more Wuppo today and customized my gumgumgun to fire pumpkins instead of paint. So that sort of counts. This game is super charming! I just finished doing odd jobs (pest extermination, newspaper delivery (both via aforementioned paintgun), taking part in city council) to accumulate the credit necessary to expand the city.

So, Steam’s support for the Dualshock 4 went into beta today, I went to try it out and, uh, well, I ran into not what would I call a “bug” per se, but rather an unintended consequence of both Steam emulating Xinput and :cactus: supporting DS4s natively:

After seeing this, I had to go deeper, deeper

A DS4, Xinput and keyboard/mouse bound to a single controller

of course it didn’t work, my brain can’t handle stupidity of this magnitude

With that out of my system, 2cactus1controller was otherwise a stupid, silly success

okay I tried convincing the city council to let cops eat donuts (blonuts) despite the risk they might not catch “criminals” from being too fat. I still lost the vote, so it turns out Wuppo is not escapism but rather gritty realism

Sonic Utopia is exactly what I want in a Sonic game. It is very relaxing just to run around in. I will keep this installed for years.

Well you have convinced me I have to try it. Do you literally just run around in the game or are there goals?

well youtube tells me their are two secret other zones to find, but I was just running around in it and enjoying the momentum and played other sonic music on top of it.

I’m not going to go after the secret zones, but like I said I’m going to use it when I need to relax, so maybe I will find the bonus stuff eventually or they will make even more game I can just run around.

I ran around in the overworld of Sonic Adventure for hours, so that’s been my sonic dream for 17 years.

Highlights:

-Graphics that look like basically the old Cruis’n games with particle effects and reflections
-Joyfully exclaiming that there are only 5 tracks
-AWFUL music. Holy shit.

I’ll probably play this sometime.

Felix was right, Until Dawn is fucking excellent. It is also on sale on PSN right now. Get a few friends over and have a real good time. We didn’t finish it in our 5 hour session, it is probably 7-8 hours long if I had to guess. We had a really really good time. My friend’s wife couldn’t concentrate on her studies ended up as engrossed as we were.

Ugh. I want to play more, but also stick with my friends. Going to hurt the next few days wanting to know what happens next in MY game. Really does put David Cage and all that other kind of bullshit to shame.

You say this like Cage needed the help with that, haha.
