hrnggggh I’m holding off until the PC VR version comes up because I don’t want to desensitize myself but it’s not easy at all
where is the game where I get to be the fourth mcelroy
Just do what I do and re-edit each episode to include your own hilarious Paul Blart Mall Cop jokes.

Playing through ALttP in brief spurts. I’ll probably end up with the same opinion I had last time, which is that the rare parts where the dungeons recall those of the original game – the upper level of Hyrule Castle and Ganon’s tower – by reverting to mazes of endurance, with each room representing a little spatial puzzle, are the best, and it’s too bad the other dungeons aren’t like that. I think my favorite general thing about the game now is its domestic interiors.
A couple of the village of outcast’s houses/sheds are really good
The second image is a triumph in non euclidean geometry.
I’ve been playing Exist archive because I still like playing dumb JRPGs
Exist Archive is a very generic JRPG. Made by Tri-Ace (Valkyrie Profile) and Chunsoft (Danganronpa) it brings the worst out of both franchises.
The genre could actually get very innovative middle tier games back in the day, but it’s been over since 2005 or so. Just a sea of unbalanced low tier anime games everywhere and this one is no exception
Exist Archive has one redeeming quality. Each character has one class that defines them, is unique to them and has its own set of weapons. Think FF4 and Cecil as a paladin, etc.
But characters can randomly learn another character’s skills after a few hours. This includes their class. This has no real gameplay benefit, but when you give somebody someone else’s class, that character also inherits the stance and battle animations.
So here I have the most generic team:
There’s a frail love interest mage, a Shota main with sword, a badass pissed off gun dude, and a seductive whip lady
Here is what happens when you swap classes / gender roles
Notice how mean looking these ladies are. And believe me when I say that these pictures don’t come close to properly conveying the gun dude seductively shaking his ass and twirling around with his whip
Loving this
whip lady’s got a fucking look going on
Titanfall 2 campaign is good two levels in. It “trusts” you to find the correct path for the platforming and hasn’t yet presented a section I couldn’t clear for reasons I didn’t understand (e.g. that one fucking hill in Vietnam in Black Ops). I suspect the lack of choke points is due to some extreme Valve-style play testing and prototyping.
The writing is corny as shit. The first boss was some Bioshlock-tier villainy, but eh, you can be buds with your robot suit.
I don’t know if you ever heard the SB cast we did on COD years ago but I’m still blown away that after playing that campaign and thinking was just me being slow on the uptake during that part, I just happened to walk in on my friend’s roommate playing this section and being hopelessly, controller-throwingly stuck. He had the benefit of me explaining to him that the game never intended you to slow down there, even though everything about the level design there suggests you should be moving through carefully (like, there are fucking bunkers for one). I’m still floored, thinking about it.
I bought this game because I was down for a generic Tri-Ace RPG that might be better than Star Ocean 5, but now I know I have to prioritize this.
CODcast is one of my favorites! It’s why that level springs to mind.
Black Ops is just so sloppy. There were times when the next scripted transition didn’t load and they’d just keep barking about foxholes with no animation. Makes you feel like you’re losing your mind, missing the glowing gold button.
Titanfall 2, on the other hand, hoo boy that third level was incredible. It’s set in a factory with constantly moving production lines and feels incredible to move around in addition to looking amazing (like the opening to Portal 2).
I recommend a Redbox rental of this campaign to basically everyone.
Will do
Everything I have seen about this game has looked amazing and I’m very tempted to pick it up.
Been playing the new Xbox a lot. Going through Halo 1 in Master Chief Collection nightly. I’m up to the level Keyes. On Legendary of course. I think this game is still great even if the Flood aren’t quite as interesting to fight as the Covenant and the last three levels are literally repeats of three previous levels.
Since it was the Ge4rs Xbox I got the other four Gears games as a bonus, which I received the codes for a couple nights ago. Gears 1-3 plus Judgement so that’s cool. I started up new games on Gears 1 and 2 to check them out. They’ve aged well.
Rare Replay… Jeez there’s a lot of games here. I think I’ve check out less than half of them? I know I haven’t reached Battletoads yet. Started playing Banjo-Kazooie. I like 3D character platformers and never had an N64 so it’s neat to be able to go back and see other people’s take on Mario 64. Played the first mission in Perfect Dark Zero, the 360 Perfect Dark game. I think Rare should make another FPS. Look forward to comparing Zero with the original.
Rise of the Tomb Raider. I like this one a lot. It’s better than Tomb Raider 2013. The tombs are still mostly optional but they’re bigger and more puzzle-y and there’s a lot more of them in general. I’m maybe 3/4 of the way through the story but I keep putting it on hold to go back and re-explore previous areas. It’s a pretty game and the survival mode sounds fun but I haven’t played it yet. I’ve been using the Tomb Raider 3 Antarctica outfit that came as DLC since most of the game takes place in snowy places. It’s a good bit of fan service. Gunplay is still bleh (and almost unplayable thanks to a huge aiming dead zone that’s not present on the PC or last-gen version) but whenever I do a combat section I just run around attacking everyone with my pickaxes. It’s quicker than picking people off with carefully aimed headshots or craftable explosives.
Then there’s the free games that come with Gold membership. Assassin’s Creed Chronicles China is basically Mark of the Ninja, which is fine because if you’re going to do a 2D stealth game MotN is a good one to copy. Next month Blood Dragon will be on there and I’m looking forward to playing that again after a few years. There’s also Murdered: Soul Suspect which is one of those not-David Cage-alikes that I’ll probably check out when I get to it.
I’m really glad that I was able to redownload Space Giraffe since I’d thought I’d lost that one after giving up on the 360. I played it the other night for the first time in years and died ten levels in. I’m still “a bit meh” I guess.
Probably going to get CoD: Infinite Warfare next week.
I was interested in Exist Archive as a cheap Tri-Ace game but I was a bit put off by the doll like models. I don’t mind my RPG dudes and dudettes looking like action figures (sup Tales of Legendia) but these have dollfie vibes going on.
Mr Mech get ready Perfect Dark Zero is very very very bad.
spending quality time with OoT Master Quest
never owned the original and had to complete it at a friend’s house back in the day, so I’m getting to soak it all in for the first time
appreciating the spooky dungeon music
the way little man moves is giving me a real sense of being an adventurer with obstacles to overcome and tools at my disposal
that ocarina is real shrill tho lol
got stuck in a lava pit when i tried to jump over something I wasnt supposed to jump over and had to reset…wasn’t expecting that!
Im on a film shoot as an extra / PA and I just placed an order for Trails of Cold Steel II. Im just shy of my hundredth hour with its prior game, almost at the end of my time as a first year at Thors. Its not the wisest financial decision but alas!
hmm
does it rule??
