Yeah, and given the shortened development cycle, I could see them dropping the ball without a development timeline of ‘luxurious’.
Hide-and-seek fits awkwardly but has a separate timer, I think, to introduce day-cycle quests. And it sets you up to run into the balloon popper at night, the mail thief, etc. But it’s an inelegant kludge around normal rules.
My guess is that you either have humakti undead hunters asking your clan for support or uroxi storm bulls demanding that they be allowed to root out chaos in your lands. I am probably wrong, its been a while since I played.
Shadows of the Damned is really good imo, or maybe it’s just because its the first ps360 shootbang ive played in 5 years, but the ost is fucken fantastic and it has real giallo vibes. the narrative is aight too, and honestly maybe playing both NMH games beforehand acclimatised me to grasshopper manufacture’s ferocious wanking but it was only occasionally obnoxious although once or twice actively mean spirited. the final bosses are bad too, and the ending is typical grasshopper “we actually wrote three endings so have them all” bullshit, but eh, cool game
If you have a modded xbox, I’d like to recommend OutRun 2006 Coast to Coast. It’s a great little racing game with a very relaxed atmosphere by Sega AM2.
Those flashback levels are key. You get see what triggers Max falling off the wagon of murder sobriety. You get to go in Max’s neighbors apartment who is involved in a bombing campaign against the government and is keeping tabs on Max and the inner circle conspiracy from the first game and seeing all that Max just says he wishes he knew him better. Then you go to golgotha to be reborn
Asault Android Cactus is fun! Glad I’ve beaten the campaign because I didn’t enjoy any of the bosses much. Nor the scoring mechanics, but I think I have to have a read up on them. Keep a chain going, don’t die, be quick?
I just thought it was weird of him to be mowing down Jersey teenagers. Also weird all those teenagers had guns and were willing to die. Was Rockstar hoping to bring some catharsis for people that really disliked The Jersey Shore?
maybe catharsis for some rockstar designer and their real life bar experiences. maybe since max payne games are told as flashbacks maybe he only actually ever kills like 4 guys per game and it’s his guilt ramping up the bodycount for him in the retelling
games that i have played today (and yesterday and in the past week)
100ft. Robot Golf - It’s a cute party game about who can make it to the hole fastest in their plastic toy-lookin floaty robots. your fun milage may vary depending on your fondness for 70’s Anime tropes (with jokes about it being a shitty english dub) and McElroy Brothers/MbMbaM comedy (they do the commentary). i love those things so i got a kick out of it.
Thumper - i’m sure other people have mentioned this, but this might be The Most Violent Rhythm Game Ever, i feel instantly drained after every completed level. there is a very real chance i could throw up if i played this game in VR. it might be my Game of the Year???
I also started playing Red Dead Redemption again (especially after finally getting caught up on the Westworld HBO show) and wow, it still looks gorgeous and plays really nicely but man is every character the most annoying
nah that kind of unimaginitive busywork shit in games was tiresome ten years ago, I’m just more forgiving of it in mp cause at least they’re aping john woo and max is sad all the time about murdering people
I will be playing Red Dead Redemption after work today. Surprised I missed this title until now, I guess I always thought they would eventually come out with a PC port, but now I got it on PS3. When I got the game it came with a promo for the then still “coming soon” Max Payne 3. I took that as a good omen since Max Payne 3 is one my fav games of the last generation.
