A masterpiece of the empty void
I swear to god I got ziggurat working on the current version of iOS last night. Some combination of closing, reopening and rotating the screen. It should be impossible. I canât get it to work again though.
Thatâs weird, because last night i got all the audio from my ps4 to come out of the dualshock speaker. It was what i wanted to happen, but there doesnât seem to be any way to do this normally, and i canât reproduce it.
(maybe it was caused by inserting headphones at a particular time)
I started messing around with Downwell since I got it free from PS+ (so⌠technically not free) and it seems pretty okay so far, although I am rather terrible at it. On my best run I got down to 2-3, but I pretty much have no real strategy at this point beyond âpick a new weapon if it is shaped like a heartâ.
Also started Half-Life 2 as I figured I should probably hurry up and play the game before its sequel comes outâŚ
Strategy for Downwell comes down to the fact that if youâre above an enemy, you have the upper hand, but if an enemy is above you or to your side, they have the advantage. But your fall speed is very fast so itâs easy for the latter to happen. So spam your gunboots constantly and land on empty ledges to slow down your falling rate and keep the way safe and clear. When it happens anyway that you do end up below or to the side of an enemy, then donât engage it but instead run away by dropping further.
As for stomping enemies which some beginners do constantly and others never, basically you want to do so on the large slow ones like amoebas particularly because it refills your ammo (and therefore lets you extend combos indefinitely). But avoid trying to pull it off on narrow and unpredictable enemies like frogs â you will succeed 80% of the time but take unnecessary hits on the other 20%, and those mistakes add up.
For weapons, theyâre all good except for Triple-shot, so yeah, just pick up every weapon that doesnât say âTâ to get the bonuses. If youâre equally good with every weapon, then Armspin style is the strongest because all the extra weapon bonuses add up to more than you can obtain from shops or the initial +2 from the two other styles.
My strategy advice for Downwell is âdo the combosâ and if you canât then you need to play more.
I played some Samurai Shodown Anthology on the Wii, but we couldnât figure out how to play with a not horrible controller setupâso we had to use wiimore+nunchuck : /
nunchuck joystick to move and use C and D buttons, wiimote for A and B. Fucking awful.
Apparently it supports the classic controller, but not gamecube ones : (
I think I finished the first set of these but havent started on the second set.
I really like all the silly first draft fantasy names.
i had fire on the water in actual paper form as a kid
canât believe they let kids see such erotic imagery
I played Shank. I do not recommend Shank if youâre playing on keyboard because hoo boy the default controls are seven kinds of spread out and mapped unintuitively (light, heavy, ranged attacks spread across CTRL, ALT and SHIFT?). Then the gameplay ended up as frenetic button-mashing as I moved from one box-like arena to the next. It tried to encourage things like switching up your attacks, blocking or jumping at a fellow and throwing them around. However the AI is easily stymied by the same opening, quick hop light attack repeat until hitstun, which lets you do whatever you like afterward. Or repeated shotguns if you want to stay away from the big guys who have super armor.
I donât know what the story is about, revenge or something. I stopped after reaching the third stage because it didnât do anything particularly interesting with the genre. I bought this way back in 2007 and it was small enough to install within the couple hours I had to spare for it.
klei have gotten, uh, a lot better since then
I got way into Mark of the Ninja and then saw Shank was their last game so I said oh cool and went to play it and it is wretched.
No question of that. I loved Mark of the Ninja and Invisible Inc., played enough of Donât Starve to see itâs competent but not my thing, and on the fence on whether to buy Oxygen Not Included early because from what Iâve seen itâs right up my alley.
Iâm so glad you got a smart phone shrug
