I beat EDF 4.1 as wing diver, go me

I just looked up the game’s length and it is actually twice as long as I anticipated (darn you A Machine For Pigs for at least being brief and skewing expectations) so… I hope it wins me over at some point?

My main thought at the two or so hour mark is that I wish I had played in safe mode.

As the guy that only kind of liked Soma if you don’t like it now you can stop immediately.

yeah quake champions puts bots in your first few games without indication, seems to be a trend

I was assuming I was matched up with 6 year olds or whatever in Bronze V, so I wasn’t too far off I guess

I just had a dream where I was at a fancy restaurant and Shirley Temple sat at the table next to mine, so I made an ass of myself by asking her if she had her own official Fortnite skin.

it took me about three days to platinum out Timespinner.

i wanma write more but this gsme really did succesfully condense the most fun and crunchiest aspects of the DS castlevania games, particularly Order of Ecclesia.

there is a song that is such a rip off of Wood Carving Partita in it that it’d make Diplo blush

dreadful euphemism

I disagree. I think it starts slow but really picks up at 2 hours

Safe mode does own, though

Bloodstained: COTM is the best Castlevania 3 I’ve played since Castlevania 3

Jesus christ, I was putting off finally finding Ciri and triggering the gang-back-together defense of Kaer Morhen because I was positive it had to be the end of the story, and I’ve played through it and it is definitely not. Witcher 3’s base game is a fully written and plotted endless mode

My reaction too. It’s insane and that they stick the landing is even crazier

what if they just get destroyed by the bots?

FWIW, unless a game is outright dreadful if I decide it looks moderately intriguing enough to start and isn’t more than 10 or so hours long I’ll basically see it through no matter what, because I’m a schmuck. That said, when done with SOMA I’ll let you know which of you two I should have listened to in a better world.

Soma is genuinely excellent imo I just never quite got on with the actual challenging parts, there’s a fully underwater space with a lot of monsters in it about half to 2/3 of the way into the game that took some real pushing through for me

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: SOMA is fantastic and it deftly handles very interesting themes I’ve never seen in any other video game.

I enjoyed the creatures and their being a hindrance, but there is one area stretch (I think Felix’s mentioning) which felt like a concentrated exercise in sprint and hide, that just wears on a little too long.

Very few sci-fi horror games have left me with even trace feelings like this got to dredging up; horrifying realizations, I’ll never forget sinking in that brought bits of IHNMAIMS to mind…much more gravely.

That long stretch in the end was marvelous to me; I was tired of it just before that point, in the basement of the building, when the game felt like it was falling into a pattern of outdoor to new area->explore->monster avoid->repeat; the pace-breaking condensed stretch near the end which afforded me no time to explore and broke all my nook and cranny tendencies elicited the feeling of a running in panic dream and I loved it.

Unfortunately the grand conceit didn’t work on me as novel or horrific but I appreciate it for the care and craft with which they pulled it off.

I agree overall what it was in the moment and the context of pacing, might’ve been that the design itself grew a little routine so slightly exhausting in another sense.

I’d really like to replay SOMA, went through in a couple sessions with my ex and we both loved it but as a solo thing, headphones and isolation, seems worth it

Love and Destroy is fucking awesome. Oh my god how did I only pay 5 dollars for this game. This is the kind of thing that’s worth $150 and talked about in hushed whispers.

It is a 60fps 3D Mech action game where you stomp and destroy Japanese Urbanscapes while blasting hellmonsters and it is a quick time dating sim with three highschool girl robot android navigators. Choose your girl that decides your three very different robits.

Holy Shit this game rules.
