oh wow streets of fury is legit
I donāt even get the point of a jrpg with no towns
Currently at the boring part in kh1. Hope to finish it and 2 before 3 comes out
Iām Betrayed, stripped of my Knighthood, Condemned To Death. Break out of prison. Find out Nikola Tesla, the Q of Her Majestyās Royal Knights, is actually an agent of THE REBELS, their Man on The Inside.
Rather than flee the city where everyone is hunting for me I tell the Rebel Leader: I MUST RETURN TO THE PALACE AND GET NIKOLA, I OWE HIM THIS.
I must extract your agent, who is still working for you, from the position in which he is working for you, because I Owe Him This.
There is no indication that anyone suspects his Rebel Agent status. I just say: GOTTA GET THAT BOY!
WE NEED ME TO GET TO A PLACE WHERE I CAN KILL SOME MORE DUDES OK THIS GAME NEEDS A CLIMAX ALREADY SO I GOTTA
GET
THAT
BOY
āYou and I, we are not that different.ā -actual line preceding what I assume will be The Very Big Boss Fight
ok
ok
Iāll admit it
I fucked up again!
heās actually a werewolf!
the Not Normative Human Reveal Scene for him was v. vague and in proximity to vampire dick so I thought: yes! vampire! but it turns out
heās a v. large wolfman who works for a vampire
they tricked me by giving him a facial geometry that screams for fangs good job Ready At Dawn
(I thought calling him āSir Lucanā was a too-on-the-nose feint but actually itās a too-on-the-nose Exactly What It Is)
werewolf knife fight becomes werewolf gives roy battyās tears in rain speech then werewolfās stepdad reveals he knew werewolf was a wolfwere all along and maybe more??? but for some reason you donāt shoot him, you just let him talk about how THE COUNCIL MUST REMAIN STABLE NOW SHOOT ME WERESON FOR I CANNOT then you do then itās credits for the gameā¦ and also your knight careerā¦ and also this would be-franchiseā¦
RIP $3
I have to say that going to Soria was breathtaking
Iām on hiatus cuz I was at my parentsā house for a week but probably I will beat it tonight?
Checking in to confirm that, yes, Mirror Drop is a good puzzle game. Thanks for the rec!
i got a bunch of games gifted to me for x-mas (except stellaris and jojo, which i bought)
hitman 2 is great. iāve got the silent assassin rating on the first three levels on my first attempt, so i guess iām pretty good at it?
dark souls remastered (switch) is the fifth copy of dark souls that i own. can never have too many copies of dark souls
mega man legacy collection 1&2- mostly just so i can play mega man 9 and 10 again without having to plug the wii back in, and my pc sucks too much ass to run dolphin properly
i am addicted to stellaris. i will eventually need to start playing the multiplayer with my friends, who convinced me to get it in the first place.
jojoās bizarre adventure: eyes of heaven- i have no fucking clue how to play this. also why would you put stroheim in as a playable character what the fuck
tetris effect- need to play more of this
So, yes, I beat it tonight.
I more than liked it, but I didnāt love it. I didnāt think the plot was boring normal sci-fi crap like some did. I did think it was weird that it demanded less of you at the very end? Youād think it would require a synthesis of all your knowledge of these different cultures, but instead the synthesis is sort of provided for you by one simple decision. I actually almost respect that idea? But not quite.
It has a couple extremely discrete problems that mess with its verisimilitude that Iām kind of shocked got into the final game. Like they would be very fixable without altering the game much.
Steam says 9 hours which I feel like canāt be true. I did use a FAQ one time for a puzzle whose solution still annoys me. (Itās one of the discrete things that couldāve been improved.) Still, itās worth more than the 10 bucks I paid for it. I hope Cyan keeps making these. The world needs these beautiful, contemplative dioramas.
the more i play ffxiii the more Iām confused as to why itās so reviled. itās easily the most narratively coherent final fantasy game in the series, though I realize that isnāt saying much. maybe XII is a little more coherent but thatās such an apples and oranges comparison.
it also has fairly exceptional voice acting for its time.
the battle system is actually a fairly brilliant realization of the initial promise of the whole āaction time battleā concept. likeā¦ it was initially a gimmick that added sometimes sort of arbitrary tension to turn based battles, but the implementation of it in this game actually forces you to constantly think on your feet and strategize in real time, and it actually works. I honestly feel far more agency in combat than I do in say, VII or VIII, and the pacing is infinitely more enjoyable. nearly every design decision feels purposeful, which is not something I can say for any other final fantasy game (except, again, maybe for XII, which I still need to replay badly, but there were so many obvious compromises made to push it out to release, where that doesnāt seem to be the case here).
I honestly feel like 99% of complaints come down to āwhy isnāt there an open fieldā and that is just so tedious to me.
it really isnāt tedious tho
and honestly lmao at jrpg fans complaining about anything being tedious
Itās mostly just long imo. I put 30 hours in and I donāt regret it but Iād never give it any more of my time.
15 is far better than 13
i played two hours of Chrono Trigger today! for the first time, even! its kinda my first real jrpg outside of seeing other people play them and FORUMS POSTER DAPHAKNEE is making me play it. i like it a lot so far! its very charming and as someone who doesnt play jrpgs it was very easy to get into. the badass frog guy is my favorite
I love XII and this makes me doubt the point youāre making a lot
