No, I actually purchased it a few months ago- your comments just moved me to give it another chance.
quelle surprise
i played detroit become human and unsurprisingly it is big time dogshit
david cage thinks androids are a more emotionally relatable vehicle to discuss racism than being black is because he already knows how to be racist against black people
Some more thoughts on Virtua Racing for Switch:
- I canât for the life of me improve my times with manual transmission, with arcade steering, nor with both. So Iâm sticking to automatic with normal steering for now.
- Yesterday I ranked 125 on Big Forest Grand Prix, but Iâm ranked something like 659 on Big Forest Normal because I always manage to mess up a lap in that mode.
- In their review of this port, Digital Foundry noted joy-con drop out during local 8-player races. But I find my right joy-con drops out frequently when I play single-player docked, so Iâll unexpectedly lose throttle for a few seconds once or twice per race. Iâve never had right joy-con connectivity problems with any other game, and I sit close to the TV on a chair these days due to lower-back trouble. Sucks. Been playing handheld instead when all I want to do is bask in the glow of those blue skies from my TV.
There are two black characters in Heavy Rain: a wise old gravedigger and an ex-con that works at a junkyard and tries to murder you
iâve been looking for famicom kusoge for research purposes (the game iâm working on is heavily inspired by off-the-wall, janky stuff loaded with charm), and i found out about this japan-only atlus game called ânew york nyankiesâ where you play as a cat that fights dogs using those old cartoon boxing gloves on one of those extender things. it has a grappling hook mechanic similar to bionic commando, but the controls are way too bad to use it properly and not just give up after beating a couple levels.
mostly sharing this because of its amazing pun work in the title
Pretty sure I rented that game for NES in Canada when I was kid. Probably localized under a different name.
oops, youâre right. it came out under the significantly less good name of ârockinâ cats.â
Thatâs the one!
one of the playable characters in indigo prophecy is a black cop who hustles white people at basketball, only listens to '70s soul and loves white women. there was a 1up.com interview where david cage said he wanted to make him âinterestingâ by having him be a âShaft-type characterâ because he is incapable of writing black men as anything but comic relief, magical negroes, or as murderers. he gets written out of the game for no reason despite being the most competent character in the game in favor of making a white guy the primary protagonist
I think itâs been the opposite for me, with manual transmission and arcade steering I seem to have gotten the hang of it a bit more and so now I am ranked around 395 or so on Bay Bridge Normal and maybe 690 on Big Forest. Although I do tend to spin out or crash a lot on the first lap so I restart frequently.
That corner on Bay Bridge with the median strip messes me up all the time though, I hate it.
I havenât really tried Grand Prix much yet. Most of my racing game experience is with kart racers, so 20 laps seems kind of excessive.
I only really play with a Pro Controller or in handheld mode, so I havenât experienced any drop out. That sounds like it sucks though, hopefully they can patch in a fix. I think I find it much easier to control with a Pro contoller actually, the joycon analogues are a bit flimsy
We have a Switch in the office hooked up to a big 4K screen, plus at least two other people besides me who regularly bring in their Switches, so gotta find a good time to get everyone doing some 8 player split screen action
I think my problem with arcade steering is that drawing arcs with the thumbstick feels unnatural, and I inevitably forget the proper motions at critical moments.
But on a whim, I just did a run of Big Forest with normal steering using the direction buttons instead of the thumbstick. It felt surprisingly natural, and I beat my best timeâthatâs something I was trying for but failing at the last few days. So my Big Forest Normal rank nudged up to 599.
Iâm going to try a few more races steering with buttons on normal and see if that sticks for me.
Endurance Sega racing is my favourite type of video gaming. I love prolonging my focus on speed, motion, and blue skies in that way.
Yeah I still have trouble working out the right inputs in the heat of the moment, and often end up instinctively just hammering the accelerator instead. Although that seems to work almost as well in most cases.
I heard some people say they found it easier to set the analogue acceleration / brake to the left stick as well, so that turning automatically eases on the throttle so they can turn more sharply.
Thatâs interesting! Then youâre almost controlling the car like a third-person action game? Might experiment with that too.
Iâve been playing some Cave games.
My favorites are Dodonpachi, Dodonpachi Daioujou, Ketsui, and Uo Poko.
I like how Ketsui and the Dodonpachi series give visual feedback that make the scoring systems compelling. When that Dodonpachi combo meter starts rising I want it to keep rising. When I start getting those big 5âs in Ketsui I want to keep getting them. Even as someone who doesnât play for score I get sucked into playing these games the way they are meant to be played.
Yep I think so, and if that works out for you, then I donât think youâll need the right joycon except for starting the game. Unless the drop outs cause the controller connection screen to pop up?
For TWO DOLLARS I had a great time with Murdered Soul Suspect.
I got seriously into TFT last night. May God have mercy on my soul.
