i dug up animal shit and got 2200 exp in etrian odyssey today
just came back to this after taking a couple months off. i was all stressed about a big ass boss battle when i put it down BUT ONCE AGAIN IM A BADASS and he only killed like, one party member… which is a fuckin cakewalk for this game
i think i grinded harder than i needed to after i reset my characters so imma have an easy couple dungeons
but auto walk is so fun to play with arrrrgghhhh
this is still my game of the year so far but i haven’t finished outer wilds yet

What a surprise that after looking at it in magazines for 20 years finding out Wild 9 is a bad game and I hate it.

I got some feedback last year about whether to start with Yakuza Kiwami or Zero, and yeah for many good reasons I see why people recommended the latter. I’m glad I went with the remake of 1 instead though!
It’s not hard to detect additions or padding when playing Kiwami (I’m not very familiar with the scope of the PS2 original), but even with the enhancements carried over from Zero engine gameplay and systems wise, it felt more stiff and constricted compared to what I’m experiencing now in the prequel. It’s a lot of general “rich game” gained after work on their previous iterations.
Since each of these appears to take ~18-20 hrs minimum, more with moderate sidequesting, I don’t know when I’ll get much further than Kiwami 2 (maybe after a long break). Zero really is such a quality package that engages and rewards your investment! I’m feeling like I would’ve found playing the next (storywise chronologically) a bit too dry in its redundancy afterwards. Kiwami first, the models, animations, areas, etc. etc. seem easier to swallow before playing the more naturally realized, varied and bigger “better” entry.

i havent played kiwami yet but yeah that checks out. yakuza 1 is obviously needed the kiwami treatment the most due to its age, but also because it isnt quite what yakuza games are now it makes it really obvious where they tacked stuff on because the game just isnt structured around it in the way the others are. kiwami 1 also has the unfortunate fate of being sandwiched between 0 - which is one of the best games in the series - and kiwami 2, which is also extremely good by virtue of being on the new engine and yakuza 2 just being a good ass game
i just gotta finish the the cabaret club in 0, i did almost all the substories so i think thatll be enough yakuza 0 for me once i finish the main story

Man that is hardcore
playing a lot of games i necessarily wouldnt because of game pass so i started playing this cute little couch co-op hack n slash game called riverbond. its got a boring voxel art style but theres lots of silly skins you can pick (im a WATERMELON SLICE) which is fun. i beat a giant fish pirate captain armed with a frying pan to death with an umbrella. bosses slowmo explode into voxels when they die. theres a peaceful pig who tells you that its okay to be yourself. fun for the whole family
it also has BOMB GIRL, who i am quickly learning to appreciate

Mukade are spooky and aggressive. I spent a summer in a little Japanese house at the literal foot of a mountain that was filled with bugs including mukade that would rush me and try to bite me. Not a fan. The older dude in the house was like yeah…when you get bit by one you won’t die…but the pain from the bite is so intense for three days straight you’ll wish for death
