Games You Played Today Classic Mini

I am 99% sure I have witnessed that on actual hardware and it’s just an actual bug

IIRC the purple edges to the left and right are seen on actual hardware but the flicker above the status bar is not

Yeah it’s pretty much that scrolling line above the status bar, partial or fully you will see in almost everyone’s playthrough on youtube. However this guy’s does not have it.

seems like it shows up in all footage captured from actual hardware

??? Not in the video I linked above, which is emulated but then how? My dozen-ish times going through Crystalis may have been 25+ years ago but that really stuck out as irregular when I started the new translation God Slayer.

It’s listed here:
https://wiki.nesdev.com/w/index.php/Game_bugs

Mentioned:

I mean so goes emulation but I’m super picky for this one.

maybe the lack of it is a side effect of less accurate emulation?
maybe it’s less visible over RF?
or maybe not, i dunno, i’m just guessing and lookin

like just loading it up in a release of FakeNES for OS X from 2003 the line above the status bar does not appear, but it does in the current (whatever this means) PPC builds of the FCEU and Nestopia Retroarch cores.

I was mistaken; the line is there but I ended up applying really dirty shaders to help mask it.

So I’m probably about halfway through Yakuza Kiwami and I gotta take a sec to talk about the whole Majima thing. He’s a character who apparently had his role dramatically increased from the original version of the game (I have no idea if he’s in the other games) but the thing is that because of this he’s basically two different characters. All the what I assume are new scenes cast his as comedic relief, yet in the ones that I assume are originals (because they are tied to the main plot) he is basically a dangerously violent psychopath.

The game is tonally all over the place already but in a way that is more charming than anything else, but this is the one bit where it kinda collapses upon itself into a mess.

Yeah, the Majima stuff does a kind of disservice to the rest of the game, especially some of the actions he takes later on in the game.

Plus he gets incredibly hard to beat later on. I just wanna get the trophy for walking around with Haruka in the post game, please stop fighting me Majima :frowning:

Thanks for checking though, appreciate everyone’s look into this very minor line glitch. I’m just gonna bang my head on it for an hour again soon, see if I come up with anything different between rom dumps and old emu builds.

im getting close to being able to dual-class in etrian odyssey nexus and im paralyzed by strategic choice

my party is a hero, shogun, gunner, harbinger and nightseeker… probably gonna give my nightseeker healing abliites?? theres so many classes and so much possibility argh

i like this game even though my nightseeker wont stop making an ahegao face

Yeah, the whole Majima Everywhere system sucks because they didn’t make any changes in the main story to accomodate it.

the majima everywhere is WAY tacked on and holy shit it gets repetitive, but i always saw majima as kind of funny… that could be related to his original voice actor being mark hammil screaming MOTHERFUCKER all the time

but that tone in the ps2 game stuck with me through the whole series
