I love the story of Yakuza 3 just a ton, even though the gameplay is a bit exhausting! The idea of a secret CIA twin brother who just shows up occasionally to shoot someone is adorable. Every time it happened I just let out a cool “Jurisdiction…” and blew the gun smoke off my R2 finger.

I think Connor’s writing is unintentionally the best thing about the game (or any Quantic Dream game). The usual awkwardness of Cage protagonists fits right at home with Connor’s android out of water. I identified with him way more than I think was intended. I often feel like the only one who cares about standards but is too socially incompetent to do shit about it. Also the usual Robocop hilarity of the most advanced (but extremely flawed) androids just being used for cop work.
Marcus is kinda whatever and I let the other one die to see how early the game would let me kill off a character.

the highs are wonderful but they’re so few and far between, and also you might as well quit the game after the fight you describe there because that’s the last time it’s anywhere near that good
and they couldn’t even be bothered to actually do the cliffhanger, where’s my elongated Yakuza 4 QTE sequence where I fight for Kiryu’s life in a hospital bed

i have been spending most of my time learning and making 3d stuff in blender but when i want to play something i keep just starting up sonic robo blast 2 kart!!! it is really fun but also hard because it is random because its a kart racer!!! i play online a lot because i like pain and my ears dying because every server has meme horns and people who probably play the game way more then i do but i dont care its the moments that i like instead of getting 1st place like when i take a good shortcut that sends me flying but then i land on top of someone else and i bounce forward and win or die!!! when i want to “play seriously” i do time attack and im not great at it but it is fun to learn a nice looking map and drift all around the corners as tikal or amy or a small bee girl or vib ribbon or madotsuki or whatever!!! when i want to have my heart go fast too i play SPB Attack mode which is time attack but you get chased by a bomb thats like the blue shell in the multiplayer thats always right behind you and will catch up if you slow down too much and kill you and you can make it even harder by making yourself drop bananas every couple of seconds which makes you need to move around a peelfield when you do the next lap!!!
it is better then mario kart because you can be so many different characters though i usually pick amy or hatsune miku or tikal or cream because you can only pick the characters the server youre playing on has and theres sometimes too many to go through or none of them grab me or i want to play with a 3D model instead of a 2D sprite which i think only the base game characters has
also i played bomberman quest which is cute but only fun if you think bomberman is cute and i do so i enjoyed it

this game is not generous with time. already screwing up and missing out on events 10 minutes in. guess it’s one I’ll have to restart and play with one eye on a guide the whole time

I was actually just testing out what the cleanest looking royale shader settings I can tolerate are for extensive screenshotting purposes of bof4 and xenogears
yeah, they look fine if you fullscreen them but otherwise crt-royale is like no other in creating artifacts when you downscale

parker’s screenshots don’t have stripe artifacts for me (even without fullscreening) but I’ve removed all low-dpi screens from my life some time ago
yeah they look fully different on my windows machine (regular DPI) and on my macbook (hidpi)
This is also why CRT shaders go from okay to great on 4K TVs

I think I got Pacman Championship Edition for free? Or for 99 cents? Either way it has been on this PS4 for years and realizing I had never touched it.

Oh this is like CE with a bunch of stupid rules I hate and the camera flips around and wow Sometimes Namco you hit it out of the park with New Retro (copyright Me right now) and sometimes you pull this horseshit.

Between Me and the Night is a sidescrolling adventure game, a hybrid between point & click and action/interaction and it doesn’t seem to pull either off very well. I think I bought this game because I liked the look of the trailer. I resent past me for being such an easy mark. After about 5 minutes I was already miserable.
Regimental Chess is a great idea on paper but I guess there’s no servers active and so the game is inoperable 
Yeah, Connor is our favorite storyline as well. The performance of the actor is also really good, which helps. My girlfriend immediately recognized Markus. She says he was in Grey’s Anatomy and I don’t know if that’s true but she’s good with actors so I just believed it. His performance is getting more interesting but it’s a bit subdued for my taste.
It finally happened, she failed two QTEs after doing really well on a chase scene and got torn apart by heavy machinery. Luckily it was with Connor, who just gets replaced by another Connor model. She was hella bummed out by that and almost wanted to quit the game. But then she did really well in Kara’s story and she kind of got over it. The game’s getting more frustrating for her though. I guess that’s natural as the game raises the stakes.
I hope the ending will be more decided by choices than QTE reflexes but we’ll see
