I just watched a 45 minute video making this argument for Other M and I have come to the conclusion that video essays were a mistake.
Canāt wait until From snaps up the Metroid licence
Now I have. Itās definitely professional and Knuckles makes Jojo references. A different dub isnāt going to save the stupid story though. The dub was never the problem.
I spent an hour on a knuckles stage before giving up restarting and finishing in two minutes.
god even mentioning āa knuckles stageā has me wincing over how much worse the character design was on ārouge the batā vs big the cat
there were no good sonic games released between adventure 1 and generations (colors is boring I have no idea why people like colors), sorry folks
It is extremely fun to complain about this game and for my friends to watch in sympathy and shared suffering.
Iāve never played a 3D Sonic (except Sonic 3D: Flickyās Island on Mega Drive but that doesnāt really count) but I once watched a classmate in my Game Art course play one when she brought her GameCube in, and every time she walked into a wall it would flicker in and out of existence while the camera shook violently.
Itās hard to say but maybe the most incredible defense of the game Iāve seen was a defense of the RNG emerald shard locations and one-at-a-time emerald shard radar. Itās a fresh hell challenge each time!
oh this one
Iām gonna read watch later.
Mods you can throw this all in a thread thatās like āRudie makes the forum cry with his Sonic Adventure 2 takesā
Oh, no. Actually. It was in Ruby of Blueās video.
Now I have another to put on the list.
games that otherwise are kind of genre focused needing to shoehorn being āabout depressionā into them as some kind of like serious expression at this point in time is just so cringe. itās actually something that i think will date a lot of these games poorly, because their designers either donāt seem to be aware of how their shoehorning in of these issues fits in with a general tiresome trend or i guess they just donāt care. but i donāt know. itās like all of these games are trying to be a more prestigey cartoon network show, like Stephen Universe or something.
I aināt gonna let it get to me. Iām just gonna creep.
For me the peaks of the game are City Escape the level, Metal Harbor and the final boss. Some of the Tails/Eggman levels scratch the arcade itch of perfecting a run just for the sake of score.
For me the most fun of SA was where it feels like its playing with speed and lets you negotiate the geometry to do stuff like running on walls against gravity.
As a teen I mightāve been in that crowd that the JPN dub but I still think it just easier to listen to with less akward reads and less characters talking over each other at the start and end of lines.
metal harbour was such a good stage. i wish theyād had the player do more of those cool homing attack tricks later in the game, rather than focussing on rail grinding
Donāt get it twisted, even at the time I thought SA2s plot was dumb and was just a saturday morning cartoon for 12yr olds but it was still a plot in my mascot platformer that was a just a little more than get mcguffins and save a gender opposite mascot.
weāre about a third of the way through g-string, the level design is so so good. finicky 3d platforming is back
GOTY material beyond doubt
It turned out that I could block the unblockable guy in Sekiro. I just had to use a new item I hadnāt tried yet (the umbrella). With that, he became maybe the easiest miniboss so far.
I then opened the front door of the castle and discovered that I was looking at the back of another miniboss I had ignored earlier because fighting him seemed like it would be a pain. (He was surrounded by other soldiers, giving them a speech.)
When he came after me, I saw immediately that I could use an old Dark Souls trick on himālure him beyond his preferred area so he starts to back off and attacks only intermittently. With that, he took the prize of easiest miniboss.
please fight me.i am begging you
