Games You Played Today: 358 Threads Over 2

I dunno what to tell you other than I keep City Escape, Live and Learn, Metal Harbor and EGGMAN on rotation in my mental radio.

it’s just personal taste, I make no claims to be correct

but it makes the mystery of this game’s staying power even more bewildering to me

The vocal tracks somehow got even worse after Crush 40 with Zebrahead, the singer from Bowling for Soup, and knockoff Owl City. The song from Forces is full of manic chord and tempo changes that feel considered, though.

The Hyper Potions songs for Mania are actually perfect.

Sonic’s just built on bubble energy pop to me and anything with a hint of anger just doesn’t fit my cool blue feel

As a kid I read sonic as angry on all the box art but that’s the 90s for you. It wasn’t until the cartoon and archie comics I learned the difference between anger and 'tude.

hot loops heron tips:

play this game while you are doing something else entirely. If you hold down the retreat button for a bit it will set it to auto-pause at the end of the current loop and show you your haul. abuse this, it makes the game tolerable and almost useful while trying to do chores etc. like a noisy and puzzy tomato timer. honestly wish i could slow the game speed down a little more. i have no idea how these people decided to make a game that is way better the less you pay attention to it but here it is

also the necro costume is hot

wait is this just a clicker?

Yes, it’s the clicker genre turned a couple notches closer to ‘game with, like, choices’ and, well, clickers are surprisingly popular

this is the first thing i’ve heard about it that makes me want to play it

I was really hot on that game for the first 5 hours or so of it and then cooled down significantly. But I still like it! As @la_ciel said, it’s excellent as a incredibly low-attention game. Fits a niche I find valuable. I’ve been watching the Persona 4 anime lately because I want to know how that game’s plot ends without actually playing it, and I don’t think I’d be able to stomach a binge-watch of that show without having Loop Hero running alongside it.

which one

The original, not Golden. It’s pretty mediocre but I just want to know how the plot ends. What’s nice is that it puts all the filler arcs in their own self-contained episodes that I can skip.

Oh yeah I should be clear I love City Escape the song. My comment above is more that the game is not good and trying to take the story seriously or of an emotional arc is ridiculous.

Ace Combat 7 has one hell of a bullshit final mission. The super fast drones weren’t too much trouble, but then it makes you pilot your jet through a narrow tunnel into a tight circular room where you have to kill another drone within a minute and then somehow manoeuvre your plane into the vertical shaft in the center to escape. That last bit seemed impossible until I changed the controls back to the default and then managed to do it with some luck.

Game is fun, but screw that last level.

I loved Sonic Adventure 2 because it was the 3rd game I got on gamecube when I was 14 between 9th and 10th grade and was super lonely and depressed in Whitby and just played the chao garden over and over since. It was janky as hell but it was all I had.

Did you play with the Japanese dub? Its fans are adamant that it has more gravitas in a language they don’t understand
