Hell, anyone who was on SCTV. I bet Andrea Martin woulda made any of the boringly misogynistic cutscenes in this game actually funny.

Should have stopped with my first two hours of Blasphemous because the following 8 said Video Game on a white board with a bunch of underlines.

Very late in the game I got an item that made all bottomless pits not bottomless. Hope you kept track of every bottomless pit in the game idiot.

Oh never figured out how to get the water traversal item? Well the answer will make you said “what.”

And yes you were supposed to put the hairy egg in a tree you don’t remember to be able to use those vines.

Feel like they were going for some La Mulana level obtuseness but looked far too into themselves that they couldn’t see outward. They have all the Dark Souls Boss Defeated messages be in Latin which is great if you…read Latin. The last one is different and I went “I don’t read Latin.”

The penultimate boss highlighted the problems with the other player sized bosses. This isn’t a fighting game. The enemies and the players have no kinetic friction so you can stand on top of each other. Which if your game is 90% a parry based system makes it real difficult to use that.

Speaking of which I don’t think I used the down slash once. There isn’t a good ability to hit above you and so many of the bosses/enemies like to be in that position.

I don’t know if people say this but I kept thinking “People are going to say this is hard. Not sloppy.” Often the safest point on the player sized bosses was on top of them furiously smashing attack. I am glad I could do this because I don’t think they deserved careful consideration. If you parry they would often just push you back so…well it is melee based.

I really wanted a disgusting weird cutscene for every boss. Not just the first (spoilers!)

I played 5 minutes of Actraiser 2 and it’s fucking abysmal to control. Jump, double jump (but really slowly), turns into a glide that is slightly faster than walking but at a very weird angle. Bubsy with a sword.

This game is the ultimate case for savestates and rewind. And it’s still stupidly difficult even with those!

The maybe-maybe not death sentence for the 3DS eShop had me sweating and looking at prices on carts and various eShop games until I remembered that, uh, I’ve got an extra system or two sitting around and that softmodding is supposed to be pretty easy? (Thanks @Rudie and @stavekoff for help on that)

So anyway, I’m now hacking my New 3DS XL after realizing that I missed the 3D on my New 2DS XL (keeping my standard New 3DS pure, in case I want to…god I dunno, play a dead version of Smash online or something). I have three 3DS systems because I have made poor life choices time and again.

Anyway! This is a lot to say that with every 3DS release I could ever want at my fingertips, I’m just going hog wild playing 2009’s regular DS classic, Picross 3D.

What a good game that is.

I just learned that there’s a sequel for the 3DS

It’s not bad! They add an element (that who knows, maybe it’s in the higher levels of the original) where you have to paint the blocks different colors.

My beef with it is that they’ll round off the edges on the final models for a smooth 3D model that dances around or whatever, where the original was dedicated to whatever blocky monstrosity you carved out. Kinda loses some charm in that!

Agreed. I also thought the different colors added too much complexity to the game, taking it beyond the perfect brain candy zone the first one existed in and into a terrifying world where I can’t listen to a podcast and play the game at the same time.

Was Left 4 Dead this annoying? Even the barks and efforts are mixed very loud.

no, the mixing is fucked no matter what sound profile you use. it’s especially apparent when you move around while a character says something and if the game mixes them as being in earshot, they’re extremely quiet unless you’re right on top of them

i’ve been trying to keep an open mind about back 4 blood still too but i finally played this beta for like 90 minutes and yeah seriously it was like it was dead set on squandering any left 4 dead goodwill as fast as possible. just tripping over itself in every direction. i don’t get it
