Games You Played Today: 13 Going On 30

The game takes place over one in game week so you can keep that in mind for how much you have left

I am pretty sure I am already running fixt, believe that was the one I was told is the most true to the original while offering bug and stability fixes. Perhaps I just missed it, will have to dig deeper next time.

I know someone posted about it but the forum search engine means you cannot search for To A T the new game by Keita Takahashi. After he said he was dissappointed in the sells of it I picked it up to try and play with my preschooler.

Maybe the best introduction to Modern Video Games I’ve had. It has many quantum dream do mundane tasks with abstract controller movements, but that’s the whole point of the game.

The idea is you are a kid with their arms stuck in T pose and you live your life. You eat breakfast and go to school and have tiny adventures.

The kid is apparently so infauated with it they played "2 days” while I was sick in bed yesterday. They are playing now and need help all the time because it asks you to press L1 and R1 and that is a lot for tiny hands who can’t read all the video game text. Maybe it is okay for older kids but I think older kids would be bored by it. It is very soft and kind. Perfect for my kid who gets upset at conflict and peril. Like they still can’t handle jumping over the goomba in 1-1.

Anyways they ask for help every 10 seconds so post over.

I am finally done with Disco Elysium. I liked it a lot. I had to finish it because I was spending an irresponsible amount of time playing it.

this is a really well written RPG with a very good set of game systems around skill checks. I was changing my wardobe before them to maximize my chances. Failure is also really interesting. It would be neat to go through the game and get all the impossible skillchecks since they seem to have really interesting encounters.

spoilers etc

I ended up failing the skill check to grab my gun back and it still resolved neatly.

I also ended up reloading the save twice to get through the Mercenary Confrontation. Kim was incapacitated both times even though the check was around 50%. Maybe it would have been really interesting to finish the game with Cuno by my side.

The Cryptid Encounter near the end is a nice unexpected touch that I really liked.

Really glad I didn’t hear the original voice cast, hearing Virgil Texas’ voice in a videogame probably would have made me uninstall it.

well im tired and my eyeballs are about to fall out.

Greatly enjoying Desecrators, easily the best Descent-like I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing. It understands the solitude, it understands the bursts of violence, it knows how big is too big for a given level. It feels greats, it looks great. I’m in love with this thing.

Interestingly, I’m seeing elements from both Descent and Forsaken.

Goddess of Victory: NIKKE treats the player as both master and son. Commander and baby. Everyone alternately talks to me like I’m their boss or they’re my mother. It’s not particularly engaging as a game. Each girl is a weapon archetype that deals with enemies differently. The limited field of view of a vertical screen (at least on mobile) is an interesting way to simulate visibility limits from cover. I thought it was ironic that the space where you tap and hold to fire is also the same space the jiggling butts are so you’re often obscuring what the game wants you to be paying for. Tight techwear barely containing the huge honkin’ glutescence. The game has an autoplay feature which it pretty much expects you to use for this reason.

The first auto-generated name suggestion hits a bit too close to my profession.

All the Nikke are like battle robots and there’s bizarre rules about human commanders having to execute them if they get hacked which leads to a scene early on where you hold a gun to a pretty girl’s head as she gently encourages you to shoot her. Like most gacha action, I have a lot of questions that they’re not in a rush to answer. All of these games put you in a post-apocalypse where you fight indistinct monster/automatons with the carrot of skin pulling you through. I think I’m done having used all my pulls. The missions seem to take you through an endless campaign where the stakes are unclear beyond ‘kill the robots’ while moĂ© stuff happens to you the commander.

There are also human men.

Speaking of

I also played Love&Deepspace as a part of a gacha double feature. All of these games put you in a post-apocalypse where you fight indistinct monster/automatons with the carrot of skin pulling you through. I enjoy the premise of this one a bit more since it’s more explicitly representing character interactions than something like Nikke or most VNs, otome or otherwise. Morphing anime illustrations are forsaken for fully 3D boys.

The character creator is surprisingly good but you are strangely forbidden from having anything but long hair.

You’re a new recruit in the Indistinct-Monster Fighting Defense Force (IMFDF) and some of your comrades who have special powers to fight the monsters also happen to be extremely beautiful men. You also bump into random beautiful men and good news for you, your avatar gets to be held, stroked, and whispered to by 5 of such specimens. I played both Nikke and this with my partner watching to see what she made of it and was enraptured by Love&Deepspace but reported Nikke being more explicitly arousing. I feel sort of the opposite where Nikke just makes me feel juvenile and Love&Deepspace is the more layered way to see the body. Horniness is a millefeuille.

I don’t think I’ve seen a commercial non-porn release depict lovebites on a 3D model before?

I was surprised that the gameplay is so heavy on arena action in between the VN bits. I guess there needs to be some sort of grindable thing that doesn’t require endless animation and writing of VN and first-person cutscenes. The game having the same UI aesthetic as Infinity Nikki (they have the same developer) is doing strange things to my brain. I’m more compelled to dive further into this just because gacha otome feel more fresh from my perspective. It also has some of the presentational polish and detail I like about Nikki (not Nikke) that makes Infold’s work a pleasant thing to unpeel.

I read this post right after waking up, and I know the rest of the day my brain’s going to be running constant background processing trying to decode this phrase.

I’m dumb as hell and a gameplay maximalist, so I don’t really get the appeal of being strung along by a game for horny

this doesn’t make me any better because it means I’m an idiot metaslave so I enjoy grinding gear for single or sub-single percentage point upticks and pulling the “right” units

I also like playing the game and Nikke unfortunately seems to want you to not play the game (even from a gooning perspective, if you’re busy playing the video game, you cannot see the jiggling asses)

I mostly know LaDS from the times it would top gacha revenue charts and suddenly all the various tribes of gooners would stop fighting each other and go “no that doesn’t count, girls don’t play games”

Played Revolution X, a light gun game where you have to rescue Aerosmith, and some babes, from the New World Order, using a gun that shoots CDs.

Very difficult boss fights because you aim with a crosshairs that you move with the D pad, and a lot of the bosses are air vehicles that weave around on a sine wave. Also every part of them has to be shot off.

So the answer is that I can press left shift to highlight interactive/pick-upable objects in Fallout 1 thanks to the mod, it just only works maybe 50% of the time. Fortunately the time it worked was in Vault 15 where there was actually a seemingly important/useful thing otherwise nearly invisible a hunting rifle . I gotta be honest, because of walls blocking views and how much stuff blends in with the environment it’s barely functionable in this regard.

@km we gotta get back in there

hypothetically you can look in the game folders and see if there’s an ini file with some flags you can config. For Fallout et Tu, the settings for how object highlighting works is buried in mods/sfall-mods.ini. I wouldn’t be surprised if fixt does something similar but you can probably address this

by turning off line of sight settings, so that it highlights objects regardless of whether you can see them
