Segata Sanshiro Shinken Yugi (Saturn)
Watch out tumblr ID’d these screenshots as “potentially mature content.” ; D
Segata Sanshiro too sexy.
and here’s SaGa 2:
Juz tends to be my source for the next SMW hack I play. I watch a level or two, if it seems the right difficulty and interesting enough I’ll stop watching and give it a go. If it seems too hard I’ll just watch the vids. I think this one might go on my playlist.
Parking Garage Rally developer explains how the game’s physics work. It’s actually pretty clever
this is a weird one. the guy has like, the cadence of a snarky negative youtuber, but he ends up really liking this obviously terrible game
I like Carl a lot because he often talks about science stuff. You can watch the mario but I’m really sharing it because at the timestamp he talks about some cool mRNA tech
i think i forgot to post about it but i watched an mgs4 longplay at last after people’s (unanimous?) recommendation on here to do that rather than play the thing. i don’t really regret it, although the gameplay parts were actually played straight for longer than i remember people talking about at the time. but jesus christ those boss battles. it was genuinely impressive how much goodwill i could feel draining from my body every time any of the beauty and the beast stuff came up. the one two punch of this game and resident evil 5 had to be part of the “what are we doing here” micro-backlash that gamers would spend the next decade plus trying to forget again, right. medal for inadvertent services to popular feminism.
honestly i did enjoy the convoluted backstory revelations about the patriots or whatever in the end, like idk i admire how often these games insist on referencing plot beats from the original msx one. the sense of repeating and chopping and adding more retroactive secret layers to these action games until you gradually do end up with something so baroquely, circuitously complicated and self-defeating that it actually did feel more like some sordid mirror history of the intelligence state than something real could’ve. in the same way as those scenes from the universal soldiers movies of the ex unisols hitting themselves in the dick with hammers between missions. i was gonna say it needed more military guys accidentally psyoping themselves into believing in alien autopsy videos but that’s what the ocelot thing with the arm was, i assume.
the lper was one of those accounts called like Full Game Completion 100% Real, it’s funny how even no commentary videos can tell you a lot about something, whether they ever pause to focus on something with the camera or anything. in this case it seemed like someone just dedicated to showing the way to nerf every setpiece by climbing under a cabinet and shooting 500 guys in the head with the tranq darts, which did seem like how s. snake would handle the whole business. why did these games ever let you do fps aiming..??
Maybe a better fit under the cool music production stuff thread, and i’m too much of a noob to know how it compares to LSDJ, nanoloop et al
The dumb part is the Beauty/Beast bosses aren’t even represented as well as the bosses in MGS1. At least in MGS1, they’re established earlier, give a little exposition about their lives/beliefs, then when they die, they have a little conversation where they can impart a bit of themselves on Snake. In MGS4, they’re just blank slates and then only after you kill them, Sigint gives you a terrible infodump on their lives, but it’s like, why should we care? Establish or hint at it sooner instead of just afterwards. It’s so bad
