i’m reminded of this techmoan video where he demonstrates that the PS4 and PS5 can’t play CDs:

a couple of years ago, i wanted background noise while i read, and didn’t want any video of people talking that might distract me, so i played music cds on my pc engine

I have Arm’s Length new album “There’s A Whole World Out There” on route to my house. I got maybe the one import copy on Japanese internet. I’ve been waiting for this album for months. I’ve played the first two singles on it on nonstop repeat.

I decided I wanted to do it old style and go to a store and buy it then open the CD case and stare longingly at the physical object and then go home and actually listen to it, Real Style.

Obviously now I’m getting it in the mail then I guess I will go to a cafe and stare longing at the case then come back here.

The reason I’ve put this in this thread is I guess right this second I don’t have a console hooked up that plays CDs. Does a Wii U play CDs?

No it does not.

We have a PS3 slim hooked up to our living room for this very purpose.

(That’s a lie, we have it hooked up because it’s the last PlayStation that can play DVDs/Blurays at a faster speed. I’ll never watch anime at its original speed ever again :dash: )

The PS4 kinda can, but only sometimes subtitles work.

i was referencing the ps4 when i mentioned subtitles, sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t, sometimes they work but they’re tiny

Does Runequest come up? If I had to point to one thing that inspired so much of Morrowind’s setting, it would be Runequest, which Ken Rolston worked on back in the day. Rolston’s supplement, the River of Cradles, is the basis for a lot of vvardenfell specific material and there are occasional direct references, such as the Puzzle Canal, a dungeon that originated in Runequest’s Big Rubble: The Deadly City

It does. There’s a chapter for it.

oof, I just watched it, that was a really bad description of glorantha. I don’t know where he pulled that stock sword and sorcery art from but it has nothing to do with runequest or glorantha

seriously, what is this supposed to be

it’s not runequest, nothing here is in runequest or glorantha at all. I think he got confused and was looking at heroquest (the board game) instead

Actually annoyed at this kind of lazy content farm video, nearly zero research

Nah this is like Conan and shit. I think what he was going for was saying how Glorantha is a swords and sorcery setting, like the pictures shown? He didn’t do a good job of conveying that though, I agree.

Glorantha isn’t a swords and sorcery setting. It’s a weird blend of mythic fantasy and bronze age groundedness (with some pre-bronze age cultures still very present and active)

It’s definitely not a shirtless barbarians wrestling phallic snake demons while women in chainmail bikinis traipse around setting like he misrepresented it as.

If anything, that’s a more accurate description of Morrowind than Glorantha and I’d be just as annoyed if someone described Morrowind as “basically a conan the barbarian riff”

This guy spent 2000 dollars on a Hard Off Game Fukukubukuro and let me tell you it paid off for us the audience.
