FPGA World Tour

Taki Udon’s mister clone is called Mr. PI . Astounding.

I really hold no hope for these Mister Clones until people are using them.

Yeah, I was so confused when I saw that in headlines. I thought a new Raspberry Pi model was being introduced or something? Glad they walked that name back now to the more generic “Retro FPGA” or whatever

the morph4k is such a mess

they just dropped the price from 400 to 275 (!) because it apparently has sold some incredibly low number per wobbling pixels on x

they are saying the price cut’s because they found a better deal on chips… which may be technically true, but is obviously a cover story lol. they ain’t saving anywhere close to 125 per unit on that

it’s unfortunate that the retro/fpga scene seems to be filling up with grifters lately, but to be expected, i suppose.

i had to unfollow a couple folks previously because they can’t keep their libertarianism out of their “i sell retro parts” personas

There’s an alternative to the N64 core if you really want to Conker (you don’t (trust me.))

NO MORE FREEZ??

Edit: OK to not shitpost, I will say the recent Saturn core updates seem to have improved things a great deal, to the point that I wonder if I have the bad shitty slow RAM after all (that was recently addressed, I guess).

Playing Sega Rally on a passively cooled mister watching it pull 6-8w at the wall is pretty cool.

Taki’s Mister knockoff for the full bundle is 156 and if that actually works is a hell of a deal.

i know i absolutely must not buy from this first batch and wait for reviews, but what if…

It’s definitely cheap enough that it has me thinking dumb thoughts like “what if I had a backup Mister” and “what if I made a small arcade cabinet out of plywood and put the backup Mister in there” or “a backup Mister to hook up to the downstairs TV, to entertain guests.”

That last idea is funny because I’ve never been able to wrangle my sisters or anyone to play my regular old Mister with me :frowning:

My big concern is someone with an electrical engineering degree is gonna get one and go “holy shit do not put this in your house.”

I gotta imagine it was designed, I would hope, by people who knew what they were doing, and was only designed by Taki in the same way he claims he designed the Retroid Pocket 3, or made his own handheld PC and it’s just a cellphone streaming via Moonlight in a Bluetooth controller.

Oh shit, plz link me. Did he show what the handheld version looks like yet?

I deserve one of these even more than a PS5
