complete MiSter setup shipped for less than 500 USD. this particular aliexpress seller is well-reviewed in the discords iâm in. non-standard board but the price is pretty good and they have some nice options in their store as well
they also have a model with VGA for the analog out instead of the saturn connector
been playing around with the WIP MiSTer-ized version of this, it is pretty cool
the existing core is great so i canât really tell any difference but i can at least confirm that the FM sounds delightful, had a listen to some cv bloodlines and battle mania 2 tunes
after a two and a half year wait, retrousb is finally fulfilling AVS orders. I ordered mine in April of 2021 and they just posted that the earliest outstanding orders are getting theirs first. I hope thatâs me.
Those links didnât work for me, but if this is TheRetroCastle that is who I used.
I just got a tracking number!
new FPGA project announced yesterday
âMARSFPGAâ - Multi Arcade & Retro System
uses an Efinix Ti180
custom PCB
supports 4k60 4:4:4 output, apparently - this would be a major upgrade over the output limitations of the MiSTer (it can do effectively 1440p@60, but only just). they are also claiming 1440p@120, and HDR/VRR support
Not allowed to see that X but I wonder if theyâve mentioned how much itâll be? I imagine 5$$ maybe even $$$$
i think atrac17 floated 699 USD? it isnât going to be available 'til late this year so probably subject to change
Itâs wild how fast the N64 core is coming together, and the Saturn core has saves now! Mortal Kombat and Turtles Arcade should be in the next two weeks.
the saturn core is amazing
i played through a bunch of Darius Gaiden the other day. didnât notice any issues! had the audio on my tv pretty low so not sure if there are still audio issues, but it looked and felt amazing
This is great! Now more can know of Dark Saviorâs genius.
N64 core is already absolutely nuts
just played a bunch of cruisân USA and san francisco rush and they are already working shockingly well? i am flabbergasted
star fox 64 and mario kart 64 are also playable, banjo kazooie even works, although there are some graphical issues on all of these
it is pretty incredible considering N64 was supposed to be effectively impossible on this hardware
edit: lmao FPGAzumSpass just posted a new build an hour ago with eeprom save support. wild how fast it is progressing currently!
low level emulation of something as complex as the n64 is impossible on fpga hardware, so what youâre seeing is just the equivalent to underpowered software emulation
god damn texture filtering is in on the n64 core and it is just cooking at the moment
i played a bunch of wave race 64 (some graphical issues, namely vertex lines showing under waves, otherwise looks/feels great) snowboard kids (looks near-perfect, but slows down frequently)
very excited
I did kinda laugh at the video that said Mario 64 is running great, and then he turns and faces the camera lookinâ like that faceless yokai.
Some day Iâll test this core and update my Saturn core!
do you have a 64 pad youâre using, or is there another controller youâre using?
I am playing with an 8bitdo Ultimate pad currently. You can have all the c buttons mapped to actual buttons if you put two on the face buttons and two on the back buttons. Stick feels pretty good, actually
