but this another situation where the remake of 1 was far more warranted because of how comparatively primitive and underdeveloped it is.

I am definitely of the belief that in general remakes are a waste of time but when it’s been like 20 years (ie multiple design paradigms) and it’s a Japanese studio that does all their own engine rigging that’s usually enough of an exceptional case that I wanna see what they come up with and I think this basically passes muster

I think the thing that bothers me the most is that, with the release getting closer and closer, it seems like the final on-the-store-shelf title is actually going to be “Final Fantasy VII Remake”

I can only assume a perfectly fine Chapter or Pt. 1 would’ve been too flammable, for the likely half of potential consumers that haven’t gathered this ends roughly around leaving Midgar (or whatever % of the original game you can call that).
my least favorite trend is games named like this. Referring to doom (2016) as doom (2016) or even nudoom sucks

I feel like this is different though. It’s a remake, so it should have the name of the original
If Doom 2016 had (nearly) the exact same maps as the original, same weapons, etc., but all just rebuilt with Doom 4’s graphics, calling it anything OTHER than just “Doom” would feel weird. “Doom Remake” would DEFINITELY be wrong
The FF7 remake isn’t a reboot or a sequel-in-all-but-name, it’s the same characters/world/story as the original, just built out of newer, shinier materials.
