Yeah I’m an early burster too. I try not to do it in super obvious places (ie: slowdown counterhits in strive) but I consider it a use it or lose it kinda thing. Doing it early can really fuck up someone’s momentum too if they’ve clipped you on a stray hit or something
if you want to put the work in it’s worth learning what each character’s go to oki set up or corner carry combo is, and then burst out of that. or you could be like me and just trust your muscle memory to continually burst at completely bizarre times that you immediately know are terrible, and then wonder why your hands keep doing it anyway.
Bursting 6 kilometers above anji’s head after a ch kou and watching yourself slowly fall into his muscular embrace
switching my strive main over to potemkin, since it turns out i’m good with large dudes who hit people with their butts and do axe handles with their giant hands

Very good bundle of fighting games over at Humble Bundle. $12 for:
- Soul Cailbur 6, with 70% and 60% off coupons for season passes 1 and 2
- Injustice 2 Legendary Edition (this has all the DLC)
- Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid
- Killer instince
- Mortal Kombat XL (I believe this is the complete, all DLC version of MKX)
- Slap City (Smash Bros- like whose devs went on to make the new Nickeldeon Smash game)
- One Finger Death Punch 2 (never played these before)
Dang, unfortunate timing for Lol fighter to be compared so directly to Arc’s DNF Duel fighter. They both look great though
Did anyone play the KOF Beta? I completely missed it
I played a couple games, but just got turned off by how limited the roster was in the beta. Game itself feels great though.
The online mode UI is really odd, some people had trouble figuring out how to lock in their team, which is never a good sign. The GGPO implementation doesn’t clock sync properly so you can wind up with one-sided rollbacks pretty easily. I’ve heard complaints about how the player lobbies are worse than KOFXIV but I haven’t played that and I never use lobbies anyway.
One cool thing is if you meet someone in casual match and you finish your BO3 set, you can ask them to transition to a player lobby so you can keep playing together. I’ve seen that in games like Overwatch or Apex but I haven’t seen it that much in fighting games before.
Chris j.CD has so much startup now
It’s so funny how stuff like this has a bunch of people being like “maybe gatekeeping communities is a good thing”. The DBFZ generation has left an indelible scar on fgc discourse.
People really need to learn to ignore one idiot.
But then what would fighting game Twitter do all day? 90% of what they do is reacting to bad takes made by someone with 3 followers as if it matters
I was going to guess “play whatever game they’re into” but I think fgc has a really sizeable percentage of people who are just full-on spectators and for them being a fan/poster is the main attraction.
The real MVP of the Inquisitor’s moveset is the wheel IMHO.
They’re putting out all those short character trailers pretty fast. I like the grappler’s looks a lot more than I thought I would, given how much of a Ryu clone he is. But there’s something in the model’s face and expression.
Grappler is most fun-looking so far. I just feel the branding of DNF Duel is generally a little too bland to carry it.
One more DNF character, Striker:
Only ranger left and then? I think there’s some upcoming DNF event where they might reveal more.
Speaking of reveals, here’s the almost-release trailer for Skullgirls’ Umbrella, with Black Dahlia at the end:
EDIT: Oh hey, completely forgot but friday also saw the release of TMNT x JL Turbo!
