If I had to choose between full Nights and Christmas it would be Christmas because of the acapella music, real-time clock based decor and you could bounce around the Spring Valley floor as a very rubberbandy Sonic. Also there were less levels for me to flail awkwardly in. They really nailed the Seasonal Gimmick Game Product.
minecraft vs ssfIIt - SF2 I guess. Had good times as a kid from that one, also I love theorycrafting about fighting games in the abstract. On the other side my inner child was too desiccated when Minecraft came out for me to have ever mustered any genuine appreciation for it

I still like xi way, way, way better. xiv sounds like a neat book but xi is a game I actually want to play, xi truly leverages so many of the strengths of mmos while xiv mechanically focuses on low-ish common denominator appeal

i havenāt played a ton of ffxi but its obtuseness really doesnāt want anyone to play it ever. i WANT TO PLAY IT SO BAD but i dont know how id handle literally all text in one window. thereās a lot of quality of life stuff thats hard to go back on
at least i can get a good taste of the mechanics doing eureka, which i enjoy but everyone thinks is the most boring part of the game
it really sucks that all the mechanically interesting shit doesnāt happen in final fantasy til LATER which yes. fuck mmos for that but WHOOPS NO THEREāS A NARRATIVE PAYOFF UNLIKE ANY OTHER GAME so i canāt even say its like other mmos in that aspect. i wish the classes were more fun to play earlier. when i queue as like bard or white mage under level 55 i wanna cry. i love you broco but this is your worst take ever! driving in gta games (3 wasnāt even out when crazy taxi came out!) prior to 4 is clunk-ass gamefeel, where crazy taxi is fucking arcade perfection. utterly incomparable

My game boy camera passion is devoid of all irony or mirth. On my physical camera, I had a photo of one of my middle school classmates. I took it right before I got pulled out of school to be homeschooled. Sometimes I would look at it and just remember what it was like to have friends.
Then one day my sister put a silly stamp over his face and I got real mad at her for ruining my photo. I still get a little mad thinking about it.
Anyway that guy is wanted for murder now. Vote Game Boy Camera.

There are reasons for this (lack of arcades in my immediate area growing up combined with not having any of the 16-bit systems until way too late combined with mostly being a solitary person) but whatever. It is a crime that a romhack of Metal Slug is on here, but we only got Ikaruga for STG action. Like what the hell? That is some bullshit, but whatever. Lists are bullshit. Life is bullshit.
Crazy Taxi is a goddamned gift of a videogame. Figuring out how to rack up the fees by sliding and jumping all over the place feels good. Those four songs introduced a whole lot of kids to Bad Religion (and nobody to the Offspring, but only because the Offspring were fucking everywhere anyhow). Sega fun blue skies and silly passengers and good times. The home port was maybe my most played Dreamcast game, in terms of number of virtual credits fed into the virtual quarter slot.

Like damn, I donāt even know what to do here. I have never finished Super Metroid. Yakuza 0 (accidentally) ruined one of my favorite characters in gaming because the people playing this as their first YKZ game did not realize his ending is the saddest shit possible and leads to him becoming an active sociopath, so now he is reduced to being ZANY in fucking Kiwami. The ending of 0 makes me cry a lot.
Winner: Yakuza 2 for PS2
NIGHTS INTO DREAMS vs. SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2
This one is difficult as well. Sonic 2 is the one I play more, so it has an edge here, and it was the dream od the 16 bit systems I didnāt have at the time. I just wanted to play Sonic 2. Chemical Plant Zone still feels like a dream world to me, something I theorized about a whole ton before I ever got to play through the real thing. Itās great.
But, NiGHTs is a dream I feel like I should have had, but didnāt, because I sorta had given up on that kind of kid dreaming by the time the Saturn had come around. And lord knows, it is certainly something that never was matched.
Winner: Sonic 2
