No wonder GTA 3, and to a lesser extent VC, feel like of a totally different spirit than SA and later GTAs! From watching this doc, seems like when DMA got absorbed by Rockstar that a lot of the verve of that studio, along with most of the staff, was lost.

My understanding is that the people who left to form th studio that would make Crackdown and, uh, APB were the ones interested in a toyetic, physically-reactive space.
I’m surprised Rockstar North managed to pull back strongly in favor of physics by GTA IV and its motored ragdoll tech that only ever showed up elsewhere in Force Unleashed before, I believe, being purchased by Rockstar the publisher. I think Rockstar still carries a belief in interesting reactivity of their games, but they unfortunately aren’t as interested in the player input side.

I played the demo for Elechead when it was released and the game seems pretty solid, obviously what was shown was a bit on the easy side but I saw the potential for a few interesting little twists. Being able to toss your head to accomplish things but dying if you don’t retrieve it shortly feels like the right kind of mechanic to build a puzzle platformer around so I added it onto my wishlist.

Super Space Fuel Inc. is a puzzle game done by Peter Boné in 2021. It’s actually a love letter to the EGA era of DOS games he grew up with, so he fired up Borland Turbo C on his 486DX-33 and created an actual game featuring nice 16 colors EGA graphics and a cozy AdLib FM soundtrack. The music was composed by Marc van den Bovenkamp and the graphics were done by Richard Schmidbauer.
According to Peter, the EGA graphics mode is sparsely documented as VGA was more common, so he had to figure out for himself how it works. As you can see, he made it.

this is also helping me realize that the yugioh TV show was a significant part of me losing interest in anime as a teen, because it was so bad and so ubiquitous that it turned me off of trying to seek out more lupin iii fansubs or w/e
