If I had a Briāish pound for every essay Iāve received whining about MTX or lootboxes only to disclose that the author has 100s of hours in Genshin Impact or w/e - Iād be able to afford that new skin in [game].
One whined about how Warframe requires the player buy inventory space because itās unfair but then went ahead and bought more inventory space

had a good laugh at a guy doing a video about the predatory mechanics of gacha and the various methods they use but uses Genshin the target example because half of the things he brought up didnāt reasonably apply (him going āwell devs constantly change the meta to favor new units so youāll pull for themā making me laugh w/r/t Genshin and then also making me depressed because the Genshin meta will never change)

i was watching this new video by the slightly obnoxious/clickbaity youtuber Karl Jobst who i nonetheless still watch sometimes, which started with -
and iām like - huh? what does this have to do with FF7 speedrunning? also wow, what a a really hack intro. maybe heās going to make a point about how these things are subjective and itās up to people to determine what they believe is the best but that FF7 is one of the most beloved. or maybe heās using it as a way to misdirect you and heās about to transition the subject into something more frivolous that is only partially related. okay, i think i know where this is going.

I think there was some gamefaqs tournament poll thing over a decade ago where OoT won and itās been my impression that a lot of STEM-oriented gamer types have just taken this as objective proof that itās the Best Game Ever.
Also I think someone told me Karl Jobst has weird white supremacist leanings or associations? did I just make that up?

man I thought I had been completely numb to horrid corporate buyouts and mergers but bandcamp being bought by epic games (of all fucking companies) really stings in a way that I didnāt think I could feel anymore.
