I dunno if I’ve posted about this yet ITT but I think it’s cool that Rey Mysterio is the cover athlete for WWE 2k22

Wasn’t he famously screwed over by WWE’s booking for years? That’s wild he gets the spotlight suddenly.

also a huge chunk of the roster in the game currently was fired throughout the last few years

gotta be a thankless job working on these titles

I thought I heard Bandcamp needed a buyer, that like Soundcloud it’s not self-sustaining (marginal storefront on the internet is a tough place to be), but I can’t piece together what Epic is doing. I suppose this is better than a music site buying it; hopefully they can let it linger under a patrician neglect.

Epic has been buying up art tools for the past few years just as Unity and Adobe are doing the same. It’s early to tell, but so far their stewardship has not led to outward rot. Unreal the tool is better-developed and under better communication and responsiveness to user needs than it’s ever been; at least, at this point, they still make good software.

he always smelled off to me (is there a term for this? white supremacist smell?), though yeah, I found his speedrunning retrospectives were compelling enough to stick out the discomfort (can only think of a few gaming youtubers I know who don’t give off the smell, so, used to it I guess?)

either way I dunno if this is all of it (hearing he covers his tracks well) but I found one image of him Nobly Intellectualizing on racial discourse in the discord with that guy RWhiteGoose

new to posting here, don’t feel super comfortable directly linking images with n-words and their various accoutrements (not that I ever imagine I would be), happy to provide link in PM if desired

haha I love how informative his videos are but I hate what a 12 year old boy he is

he got mixed up with rgwhitegoose but he cut him off years ago and seems way less of an asshole now. his video response to getting ā€˜canceled’ made me respect him more (I mean as far as you tubers go, who are bottom of the barrel)

but he’s still just some white dude who likes shitty games who doesn’t have his head up his own ass about fame as summoning salt and uses more than ONE SONG (Jesus christ summoning salt what happened) so I watch his vids sometimes. the tricks in that ff7 one are GREAT

he also did a bunch of reporting on Apollo legend who killed himself after billy Mitchell sued him to oblivion (I don’t think Apollo legend is a great guy but the way that Mitchell uses litigation is so evil) so he knows all the shit heads

Bandcamp’s iOS app doesn’t actually let you buy music because of non-compete stuff with iTunes, so I suspect their mutual animosity with Apple brought them together.

Apple’s 30% cut makes any store program non-feasible on iOS, it’s so bad

on my other post i was semi-jokingly like

and then immediately after the Epic/Bandcamp stuff happened and my day got actually ruined.

yeah my impression of KJ just ended up being that he’s kind of an obnoxious STEM-lord who has been aligned with worse people before but he’s not like actively an alt-right/white supremacist type and his channel doesn’t reference that kind of stuff even obliquely (beyond the ā€˜i’m being cancelled’ video) so whatever. i just try and take this stuff for what it is i suppose.

For a long while now I have avoided anyone that has gotten a certain level of popularity because I just assume if you’re internet famous then you have to be either attracting a bad audience too or you don’t say anything that would scare those people away. I don’t know how unfair that is, but the end result is that the only channels I’m subscribed to on youtube are Japanese fighting game match videos (except I guess for one channel that pivoted from fighting game videos to vtuber clips at some point).

Relayer by Kadokawa Games has a demo up in English on PSN now. It’s always looked like a copy of Super Robot Wars, but Kadokawa has the capacity to make some really ambitious and weird SRPGs that are kind of low budget, like Natural Doctrine. I don’t know if this is one of them, but it might be worth checking out if you’re into SRW knock-offs. Kadokawa also give full dubs to the localization of their games that no one buys.

This trailer feels like it’s from 20 years ago, which describes the general feel of their previous games Natural Doctrine and God Wars. So good on them for keeping on keeping on, I guess.
