for some reason i find the music to this really funny. it’s like a parody of cutesy snes platformer music.
i guess we’ve reached the point of cutesy aesthetic saturation to where a lot of cutesy stuff comes off as self-parody to me though.

I feel like I’d be more on board with this art direction and music if it wasn’t called Soul Hackers 2. Is this what it was like to be an OG Persona fan?
To be fair I’m sure devil summoner fans said that about soul hackers 1 at the time
it’s fuckin hideous
am weirdly unbothered by SH2
but i already hate SF6 lmao
That taut tech though. Truly a generational leap.
i found myself beginning to mutter the ancient phrase this morning:
“well, if it plays well, maybe…”
but i couldn’t finish the thought
tweet feels disingenuous to me as this is the only thing i see ppl talking about
Maybe the dong discourse took some time to rise up
Also I thought that Soul Hackers 2 trailer looked great but maybe I’m hopelessly Personapilled
Definitely feels spiritually connected to Street Fighter EX, which is worrisome but I’ll have to wait and see some gameplay before I pass judgement. I don’t have high hopes though.
I’m just excited it exists but I’m a little ehhh about the style; we’ll see. Basically what I want is another ps2 generation where they take advantage of this engine and give us things like this, another raidou game, something like dds, etc
What was wrong w/ SFEx? I never hear a lot of good things about it, but from my time w/ illegally acquired discs I developed a strong love for Skullomania.
i didn’t really like sfex at the time, and i think a lot of people felt the same way. there’s the kneejerk “i don’t want polygons in my street fighter” reaction, but also it’s a lot slower than the alpha series, and there’s weird things like hurricane kicks being a rekka.
but nowadays, it’s one of the ps1 games i play most often. the aesthetics and soundtrack are amazing, and the original characters are interesting, cool, and weird, too.
