I tweeted this last night but GT4 perfectly captures the mood of setting foot in a car museum like the Toyota museum in Nagoya or big Japanese showrooms like MegaWeb (RIP) or Nissan’s corporate headquarters.
GT7 in comparison feels like an amusement park ride about going to buy a car. It’s trying too hard and going overboard. (Or that’s my impression from last night’s stream anyway.)
on the one hand I already have like 4 big budget releases preordered in March after barely playing big new games for a year and a half and I was really underwhelmed by trying Evil Within 1+2 on Game Pass post-RE7+8… on the other, it does look cool and the 4770K listed minimum requirement is definitely like, the last batch of releases I’m gonna get away with on this old machine…
GTA 5 was basically the PS2 trilogy condensed into one game (Claude/Trevor, Tommy/Michael, CJ/Franklin) so if anything I hope it’s a return to GTA 4. Or yeah, a return to London 1969 would be nice. Anything outside the PS2’s shadow would be nice.
