I still use OpenEmu on Mac which is maintained by a guy who basically reimplements retroarch because he doesnāt like it (it has a handpicked set of CRT shaders available and its own input mapping across a handpicked set of emulators which do not use libretro cores) which I think is fine. good for that guy. I donāt think heāll ever solve input latency to the extent that the RetroArch devs did or shader compilation to the extent that the Dolphin devs did but heās on an OS that is equally indifferent to his efforts. sometimes indifference feels good.

also wrt Retroarch-in-front-of-MAME configurations in generalā¦ if you are not a software developer I probably cannot explain to you how much software developers hate anything that is designed to sit between their software and a theoretical user and cause the user to have different experiences of their software than they can guarantee. just the worst thing in the world to them, enormous effort to engage at all, itās like expecting people to be nice to each other while theyāre divorcing
