Etrian Odyssey is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

there are definitely rpgs with fm-synth soundtracks i like A LOT but the only track i can remember from eo1 is the battle theme that i don’t like

i like some of the songs from eo4 tho, you know, after they just gave up on that style

That one song with all the brass is amazing. EO4 I think.

Fake edit:

Yeah this one

after a few of these posts so i went back and started listening to the EO1 OST again and it’s just banger after banger after banger after banger

now, there’s an important caveat here: the battle themes are generally the weaker tunes in EO1. i don’t think they’re bad, but the ones that jumped out at me were all non-battle music

now, with that in mind, isn’t like… a majority of your time in EO1 spent listening to battle music of some stripe or another? that might be painting impressions some

either that, or y’all just don’t like it as much as i do. personally i think this is unbelievably good shit

edit: like, seriously. i don’t even like these games! i mean, i played like 10 hours of EO1 and some of 2 but i mostly just want to hear more koshiro tunes. the music, to me, is like the one utterly flawless aspect of EO lol

more EO1 tunes i dig:

love that wild descending chord progression at 41 seconds:

this is probably my favorite battle tune in EO1:

the vibe on this one is incredible:

this has such a nostalgic chiptune vibe, lovely:

oh this is neat. maybe I should plug in my headphones so I can actually HEAR the songs

i will say there is something… workmanlike about EO1’s OST? like, sometimes it feels like perhaps it is playing things a bit safer than it could be…

the second to last one you posted is pretty neat. most of the ones in the first post are fine but I’d never listen to any of it outside the videogame, which is when a song becomes ‘good’ to me

okay I’d listen to the one I mentioned while playing Phoenix Wright

the battle song that’s your favorite I had to immediately turn off hahaha

the 41 second one is good at 41 seconds but the rest of the song sounds like grocery store music

like stuff really has to stick out to get my attention and so much of these just remind me of ‘jrpgs’ in general. like it’s going for some nostalgia or something but I only played chrono trigger when I was a kid, I don’t have child emotions toward jrpgs, like I feel listening to 90 percent of this stuff like everyone else feels listening to sim city music I guess. I’m very picky thoguh like music has to MOVE me to be considered ‘good’ to my ears

I’m. gonna plug in my headphones next time I play and I’ll post songs I like from nexus

is this the sleep/inn music? shit fucking SLAPS

okay I love this one, great little loop. such sample potential

heres what nexus sounds like

the ones I can remember, can’t find the inn music? THE GIRL WITH THE CAT ON HER HEAD THAT RUNS THE INN IS LITERALLY THE BEST CHARACTER THE GAME HAS EVER HAD and the bartender who only likes ‘younger girls’ and ‘runs away from older women’ is the worst character the game has ever had

koshiro LITERALLY cannot help himself with these mysterious modal-modulated ostinatos

still can’t find the inn music but the lady with the abacus that tells you only stupid adventurers save their money, spending is survival also rules. I love her accessorizing

i love the EO 1-3 music but i admit im pretty literally a sucker for it in that it reels me in because i dont know any better – im not familiar with the PC-88 music its drawing from to activate my nostalgia. nostalgia: unactivated. i just think it sounds really cool lol, and to me at least unique

I also do think the EO1 soundtrack was most memorable of the ones ive played extensively (1 3 5 and now about a stratum of 2). Meauxdal linked all my favorites, i especially love Red and Black, The Lounge Where We Speak Of Tomorrow (aka the shop/tavern/town menu at night theme) and all the strata themes

the rest run together for me a little though partly due to inexperience. i do love the title theme for 3 a lot

the 3DS ones switched to a live band sound that umm, i enjoy for different reasons. dig the sexy sax in the EO5 town theme lol

This is the save game music and i believe it’s used in all of them!

it’s not in nexus!

nexus does have a ton of unreleased tracks from older games though

the inn music sounds like Junes in nexus

okay i got all the stuff from the eshop finally! i just grabbed all the DLC. at first i was pissed cuz the quests were just a fucking ring for one char that increases their drop rates or exp BUT AS SOON AS YOU GET IN ONE FIGHT WEARING THEM YOU TURN IN THE QUEST FOR BIG MONEY BIG XP someone probably said this already but of course i wasnt paying attention

even with this i almost had my hubristic ass handed to me over a big shell using techo bash! i got fooled! i was like OOO THIS BASTARD HATES ELEMENTAL ATTACK AND HTEN HE INFUSED ALL OF MY DUDES WITH VOLT AND DID A CHARGE THAT MAKES HIS ATTACK POWERFUL EVERY TIME I DO AN ELEMENTAL ATTACK! i almost died! but i DIDNT die. well one of my party members didnt die and thats enough

since i got all the DLC i also got every single alternative costume and boy howdy some of these are lazy. big loser: bikini armor! its just the nexus hero in a bikini top instead of an armored top, only that class, no other. its got very paper doll vibes. like if i was a horny beast id feel ripped off by this DLC! maybe it was free! i have no idea im never gonna use it anyway

but i did switch my gunner to look more like an eo4 medic, so all wasnt lost
