This is my eternal cry for like
All games
made it to Radahn via the festival (thanks for the tip). haven’t beaten him yet, but it’s one of those fights that feels like it’s just about whether or not the rhythm clicks properly for me. i’ve gotten him down to a 1/3 of his health and into phase 2, but many times i die before i even land a hit on him.
decided to go wander a bit more and keep increasing strength. i’m a bit of a glass cannon, but i’ve always found that’s how it seems to work out for me in these games: 1 - 3 hits from most bosses, max.
i kind of want to switch to a greatsword but i really like the skill of my curved blade. also, i wish you could cheat and see how strong a sword would be at different levels i.e. directly compare a +4 something i am using to another potential +4. i’m sure the answers to these questions are somewhere on the internet by now, though.
I avoided discussions on this game for a week, and the last week I avoided wikis. Last night I opened up fextralife and read through a few quests and watched a vaati video on early game. My desire to learn everything in my own is breaking down. I think that’s because the only way to bank your runes is leveling and I already leveled my vigor to 40. I stopped knowing where to put my stats so I started worrying and needing to look up info… Oof
you don’t really need to look anything up if you don’t want to – the game is pretty generous w/ rerolls too if you want to pivot to some other build
i’m level 114, and one of the later bosses still gave me enough souls to level up five times
where do you find this information
check your weapon in the equipment menu and it’ll have an ‘attribute scaling’ section to the left of ‘attributes required’. these get better with upgrades but if there’s a weapon you dig, whichever is highest is the stat you want to pump
I think I’m going to switch my Short Spear for a Pike. Probably the most daunting thing I’ve attempted in this game
Idk who else had the problem, but if you want to look at your most recently acquired items, you can find them by clicking in the left stick on the menu and sorting by acquisition. Woo.
Got some good advice to combat a control problem I’ve been having where I would accidentally crouch during combat…
Rebind “Use/Action” from Y/Triangle to A/X
and “Jump” from A/X to L3 click
and “Crouch” from L3 click to Y/Triangle
it’s waaaaay better for so many things this way
beat malenia, i guess i should wrap this up now right
What’s the shortcut for snapping your cursor to the roundtable on the map screen? Forgot.
Almost back to where I was before my laptop blew up.
Using same build. Dual weilding 2 straight swords with keen AoW, a bow on secondary main hand, and the torch and a shield on the secondary off hand. Parried and block counters are necessary every once in a while.
As to starts everything goes to vigor, endurance and dex.
Not having many problems so far, and I don’t think I’ll want to change weapons much. I always liked simpler weapons anyway.
[edit] might try a reroll whenever I get the moonlight for this game, but I’ll be carefull to have enough items to do another in case it doesn’t work for me[/edit]
I rarely use spells, so exchanged d-pad up and L3. Then accidental L3 presses do effectively nothing.
Note that this also means pouch Y+up becomes Y+L3, but that works for me.
You can hit Y then X
I’ve been cleaning up the skull symbols on my map, which represent bosses and boss-like entities I haven’t yet defeated. There are only a handful now that remain. But I’ve still beaten only one of the bosses that come at the end of serious dungeons. I’ve set foot in two of the other dungeons, but I still have a lot to look forward to.
For two sessions, I’d been trying to reach one of the map monoliths but I just couldn’t seem to get to it from any angle. Then the thought crossed my mind that maybe if I ran past a certain impossible (for the moment) boss, I might be able to find a path on the other side. And that was the answer.
There are so many fun little things in this game, such as the snail boss and those annoying (in an amusing way) rolling chariot things. And I’m happy to see cruel details such as the butterflies hovering one the edge of a cliff that crumbles if you approach them. I’m afraid they may never top that gap in the floor in the Tower of Latria, though.
so i died to the final boss a couple of times, warped out to do some other stuff and now i can’t get back in?
FROMSoft is now doing AAA style game padding I see
