yeah i also got to this yesterday and love it. i think the things down there are maybe a little above my level, though, so iāll save more of it for later.
iām a lot more into this game than i was expecting. i imagined that both Souls and Open World games might be kind of old hat to me, now, but this game is exactly what i wanted. a few people have said āNESā and yeah, i think it feels like what some of those classic rpgs/action games/kusoge from the 80s were going for, but it actually pulls it off entirely.
iām dying, but the deaths always feel justified.
i have a staff now, but lol, oops, i only have incantation magic. so iām still completely without the ability to use any magic, so far, but i do have a cross and longbow, and a lot of cool arrow recipes.
when i heard some latin singing near a cliffside, only to discover it was a lead harpy or something, which then attacked me, i knew i was in love.

They do a good job of sign posting that difficulty with the super slow innsmouth lookin enemies at the enterence. Very easy to dodge but I could barely damage them at all, would probably have taken 20 hits just to down a single one.
Didnt stop me from running past them to try and explore farther in though. It ended up being worth it because I found my first bow tucked away on the underside of a bridge

Finally switched myself to offline mode because I came across a woman NPC absolutely surrounded by notes, read one and just decided I didnāt want to do this anymore.

i know at least one other person in this thread is on Xbox - any others? we could start our own group, if thereās a few of us.
i canāt tell if i prefer the game offline or not. suddenly having a bunch of warnings everywhere is making the game feel different

whereās the fashion souls at, still wearing fuckinā samurai starting gear fifteen hours in
watched a pal cruising through as an astrologer with the cat helm and meteorite staff, guess i know how to start my second playthrough
astrologer + meteorite staff + bloodfang sword or w/e from the little portal boss on the way to the southeast has been v effective for me
also just found out after about 10 hours that I had a health debuff from my hug

- you get iframes when you get on your horse
- you get iframes when you get off your horse
- if you two hand your weapon before getting on your horse your horse attacks do two handed damage despite the animations being the same, apparently
- i didnāt realize before last night, but you can also jump down into the horse-flight boost pads to negate fall damage from big heights

I really love all the ghost summons you get, they are way better-integrated than the copious NPC summons in DkS3 as a way to make bossfights more manageable in a pinch
I got a big olā knight and a spellcaster but I still like the multiple targets of the dumb skeletons
I am level 41 and my highest stat is like 22 because I keep wanting to do everything but it hasnāt screwed me yet!!
