If Iām not mistaken, they used the same graphics engine as Horizon Zero Dawn. Which had an snowy DLC.
Decima Engineās got plenty of interesting things going for it, like dynamic layer-based terrain compositing and cover generation and some really nice sky tech.
Earlier in this thread I mentioned all preppers are discoverable through the normal delivery flow and itās only today I finally realize my mistake, that there are hidden preppers indeed. And the one I found is a tough nut to crack!
My new main problem is running out of bandwidth for zip lines. Other than that Iām just building up connections before going to the tar belt chiral whatchamacallit.
EDIT: today I discovered trucks are cool. By that I mean that a package that should be kept cold will remain so in a truck, which greatly simplifies a number of things.
I stopped trying to contact preppers out of the story flow after running off into the mountains and discovering the robotics prepper location and having them simply not answer the door. Though finding Heart Manās lodge and spa early was pretty fun.
Im not sure how I feel about Zip lines, I have good network going (CH 6), they are really fun to plan out but Im not really enjoying using them that much. They are so good I cant not build them but they arenāt that exciting. I guess the fact is that I simple must improve shipping until it is no longer fun and then move on.
Playing without BB has actually been a lot of fun. I like the extra danger.
Help! I keep bonding with my vehicles!
space saver spare + load = hard mode.
Iām trying to finish all my currently available deliveries before moving on with the story but itās become a tangled web of madness. And thereās still two preppers I should go unlock, too. and Iām already beyond a hundred hours of playtime. Well, Iām not gonna complain, this is still great.
I do not own Death Stranding. I am going to wait for a sale, but I ensure you I, this game is my jam.
Whatās not my jam is when my buddy tells me āuh, I dunno man, this game looks like one big fetch quest, walking simulatorā as if thatās a bad thing.
Anyway, pretty sure that recycling your own urine/feces while drinking Monster Energy is a metaphor for the human desire to belong to the larger group by shared commercial experiences, and how those experience inspire volatility⦠if left in the body for too long.
By seeking comfort in the familiarity of a never ending consumable experience, Sam becomes isolated, paranoid. Demons, personal and literal, haunt him. He wants to run, but is tied down by the weight of the world. The only option Sam has left is to get to higher ground, throw a No 1. grenade created from his own Monster Energy imbued excrement. I believe that here, Kojima is saying we seek familiarity on a genetic level. even in crisis, we hearken back to our basic instincts; we expell volatility to make the bad things go away. We toss poo.
We are monkeys.
I think Iāve mentioned it earlier in the thread, but you can actually upgrade from Monster Energy to a fictional brand (that works better, on top of that).
(Also I never quite figured out what the numbered grenades actually do, so Iāve been going full christic blood the whole time)
Anyway, I did a lot of deliveries in the mountain area, contacted all the preppers I was still missing (and one of them looked strangely familiar until I finally realized I was looking at the very face of Max Payne). Chilled deliveries are by far the trickiest since trucks are pretty much mandatory to avoid damage but of course trucks are terrible in mountains. I guess waiting for bad weather on the delivery path could also work but I havenāt tried it yet. Thereās that delivery thatās both timed and chilled that I have no idea how Iām gonna achieve. Weāll see I guess.
I love how often the game brings new paradigm changes, this feeling of Ā« I can do THIS in a videogame?!? Ā» which usually Iāll experience like once every two years at best but five times already with this game. In order of discovery so far :
- Telescopic ladders
- Bridges
- Roads
- Outdoor safe houses
- Zip lines
To be clear whatās impressive is not just these tools by themselves but how they can be placed pretty much anywhere in the game world (except for roads) and how they are shared between players
Really not a fan of shooting or the up-close camera in this game
Hit the second battle warp-storm. Trying to get shots in while looking around Samās back/pack/objects really blows. Id honestly pay extra for a pulled out camera or an option to make Sam transparent where I could just look in a straight line Sam-to-target and not deal with this offset shooting bullshit. Iām glad I was able to stealth it out and use the bombed out church to repeatedly entangle the troops and flank the leader because Iām just all over the place trying to quickly turn and aim. If I could set traps Id never shoot.
You can toggle which side the camera is on with R3, which is pretty handy for getting the backpack out of the way for shooting. Now I think of it, you can probably go first person, too. Maybe thatās what some of the weapons having better sights is all about? Iāll have to test that tonight.
Also, as with many things going on with the backpack I feel it getting in the way of seeing things in general is a deliberate tradeoff, even though diegetically it doesnāt make sense, and when you go into fights keeping your backpack small is something you should intentionally keep in mind.
Walking around in any other game sucks now
Yeah you just hold L1 while a gun is aimed and now youāre playing an FPS.
what the fuck i didnāt know that
yeah okay⦠damn.
Alright, now I pay more attention to the weather reports chilled deliveries have become easier, although theyāre still the trickiest of all. Iāve managed to s-rank everyhting but the boss fights so far, but for some reason some of my past deliveries appear ungraded (but I can still see the distance traveled), I wonderās whatās the story there.
New update I installed last night seems to make the backpack a bit translucent at times so you can see the direction the anorak is pointing in through it! Very nice! This may have improved your shooting @shnozlak
can i commission yoji shinkawa to do faye wong fan art for me?
Kojima likes his christic imagery entirely too much but the approach of the ruins of the chiral relay near the tar belt was nothing short of a magical moment. I guess I bring this chapter to an end tomorrow (with the terrible blemish of one A-rank delivery and two missing stars, and not by much)!
