also anomaly truly is the definitive experience, i love having LESS story and MORE RANDOMLY GENERATED JOBS TO DO and not being allowed to talk to most stalkers! it literally is like bethesda pilled tarkov bullshit where these guys just want to do radiant quests with their little radiant ai walking around and shooting guys with 300 different AK variants that jam constantly because everything you pick up is shitty and broken
“all the quests are original to the mod” not true sorry the “main quest” in anomaly is largely reprises of shit from other stalkers, you turn off the miracle machine under yantar and the brain scorcher and fight the monolith and look for the wish granter lol, you get to have a big gay mission where you team up with epic cool ukrainian scientist strelok and do a boss fight against a monolith guy that is functionally the same as the clear sky one where you magdump a gauss rifle into strelok’s braincase 100 times, and GAMMA includes shit like the call of the zone quests from DoctorX (RIP) which are literally just a series of quests where you walk around and talk to different important npcs who send you to other important npcs which again, clearly aren’t “original to the mod” if it’s ported from call of the zone lmfao
anomaly has the same factions as regular stalker too lol except i think the ISG (NATO eggheads) are separate from the ukrainian/russian eggheads now
basically you can just lie about stalker however you want and guys who play Squad and Arma and Ready or Not will say that some arrogant dipshit’s modpack is the best thing ever because it has the guns they like to shoot unarmed brown people with in it and the weapon sway looks right or whatever the fuck
i dont think anyone whos recommended me that mod has played stalker in over ten years OR actually played the mods. they just watch operatorpussyassaulter1488 and repeat whatever he says
a lot of people’s exposure to stalker is getting filtered by the first one (lol) and then not playing it until covid because anomaly got really popular with youtubers. they have absolutely not played amk, olr, nlc, ns, goldsphere, ogsr or anything like that lol. these fellas haven’t even played the two other games they claim make shadow of chornobyl so much better too
My second play through of STALKER SoC in like 2013 was with some mod that made everything easier, but was recommended to me as a mod that just stabilized things. It seemed fairly popular. When deciding which mod to go with, I couldn’t tell at the time if the one I played really would mangle the experience or there were more bad ass mods to be playing and people were quick to shit on other ones by default.
But it did make things a lot easier. I finished vanilla around launch. Any idea what that mod might have been? I suspect it was Complete 2009.
stalker complete 2012. it was ugly as fucking shit but gamers love when stalker has More Graphics and the guy who made it called himself “artistpavel” lol and told everyone that PROFESSIONAL 3D ARTISTS made the graphics* aka they ported a bunch of shit from the dx10 and dx11 renderers, they changed the AI and made it so they can’t spot you at a distance and made their senses way worse so you can sneak around people more? it’s completely fucking stupid and bullshit because the guy who made it was pissed he couldn’t just headshot guys in a camp and not have their death scream alert nearby people lol. a bunch of the COOL NEW MECHANICS were just lifted from zrp and abc and shit lol, i have no idea why you’d ever recommend this to someone on a first playhtrough
you cannot listen to westerners about mods basically since this game came out since they’ve been obsessed with gay shit like ABC Inferno, Kanyhalos’ Oblivion Lost feat. World of Warcraft ambient music, and Complete since time immemorial. Anomaly modpacks are just the new version of this shit tbh

is there a mod that just cleans up bugs and such? i would like to play through vanilla again but don’t think I could put up with the extreme jankiness anymore
I only ever played Stalker completely vanilla and I thought it was fine (and great, obviously). I didn’t find myself wishing for a bugfix pack or anything
I feel cheated! I played with the stalker complete mod because it contained “bugfixes” and whatnot! maybe I should install the game and play it without any mods, it’s been a pretty long time, and I got the bad ending.
