Only one day left and I’m starting to feel more and more like I’m the kind of idiot this game will actually appeal to

It is a really nice looking city. I’m wondering how well it would run on this now-obsolete Precision T5810 CAD station I got from work.

It’s really hard assign a coherent ideology or narrative to a game this large; unlike film, which has linear time as a forcing function demanding a director creating a cohered vision, games are spaces and systems that structure a player’s experience.

We’ve seen a coherent statement that the marketing team wants to displace Grand Theft Auto but it’s unclear to me how many voices are fighting inside the game. It’s unclear whether I can find beautiful paths inside it like I can with late-period Rockstar. I hold out hope because of the much clearer vision Witcher 3 held but every data transmission we’ve gotten has been bad news for years.

I’ve got friends working on this who insist it’s good and good-natured and it seems very possible it both is and isn’t.

I paid my money and I’ll put my time in (it is, of course, practically literally a job requirement). I hope there’s space for me.

Yeah I think the marketing for this was really misleading and it’s got more going for it than the loud moments and constantly swearing characters. Apparently that’s not a big part of the experience and it’s more nuanced than that. We’ll see in a day!

Is Shadow Warrior (1997) cyberpunk?

Maybe it’s more in line with Shadow Warrior 2, in both style and personality.

Is this the fate of all western ninja fiction? Looking forward to Ghost of Neo Tsushima.

Gonna post some small cyberpunk games for people I bet

I caught Japanese twitter’s response to expecting this game and well the promise of Akira motorcycling around is very tantalizing. That could definitely carry a whole lot of a certain kind of nerd (I am probably that kind of nerd.)

that steam post reminds me of someone on the square enix forums years ago talking about human revolution being ā€œShinto nihilist culture jammingā€

New! Deus Ex seems like the closest point of comparison and it’s strange that those two games have fallen out of the public consciousness so quickly. Same foot-in-mouth edgy marketing and poor genre straddling.

I’m still sad that 2011 Deus Ex was much better than it had any right to be, almost good! and that studio completely fell apart instead of actually making things better

yeah I would of thought 4chan incel sociopaths would of loved a game where you were made a cuckhold by the illuminati
