i’d completely forgotten that Stray Bullets was a different comic to 100 Bullets although at least that one almost fulfilled the ultimate aesthetic destiny of this stuff: serving as the basis of a licensed ps2 action game

yeah!! like a comic about a super strong immortal rock guy wandering around having vaguely meditative adventures sounds not my thing at all BUT by giving him the personality of a Frasier Crane it somehow works, definitely feels like one of the weirder balancing acts of the time and can’t believe dark horse never followed it up with the Batman Vs Superman Vs Predator Vs Terminator Vs Aliens Vs Judge Dredd Vs Robocop And Also Concrete Is There, Looking At Rocks Or Something graphic novel crossover that the fans were waiting for

I want to see Concrete in the background of a fight game stage just watching or maybe trying to not damage someone’s car that he’s agreed to wash by stoneblock-hand because he has a hopeless crush on them while the players just duke it out in the foreground.

was stray bullets the one about a woman getting impregnated when she got shot? And she became a mafia boss because of it?

Honestly I have no idea. I think when I got home and realized there was no Mexican punk bands, I filed the issue and forgot about it til now.

That sounds like it could be cool or horrible.

I picked up a digital version of the complete Stray Bullets years back because it was super cheap and I think I forced myself through 10 or so issues before tapping out. Part of it was that it was a pain to read on a kindle but I also just couldn’t really see the appeal.

I think I still have volume 1 of Fables on my bookshelf but I din’t think I ever actually read it, now it sounds like I shouldn’t… or at the very least not give any further moneys towards it.

Damn I just watched a playthrough of The Wolf Among Us and I kinda dug it, shame to hear the creator of the IP is a whacko

Bill Willingham? He’s always hit me as pretty alright. Created a lot of great things. Opened up his characters to the public domain.

Checked out willingham’s twitter which never says his political views in actual tweets, but his likes are fillled with tweets whining about leftists, cancel culture, and posts by Ben Shapiro so I think we can, very safely, conclude he’s a shitty dude who has fortunately mostly made himself irrelevant.

On the other end of the spectrum, the unveiling of the latest in the line of Red Room alternative covers that pay homage to seminal independent comics didn’t go so well

Ya, the book is torture porn, so, it’s always just kinda gross.

Yeah, that was a mega boneheaded move, made all the weirder in that if they wanted to quote Spiegelman, Garbage Pail Kids was right there! That totally would fit the tone of the book.

The games have nothing to do with him besides the setting and premise and sketches of the characters, but I dunno if he makes money from them.
