I like how when you un-hide the boot drive in macOS it still looks like a 3.5” platter called “Macintosh HD”

and they still have the colour coding tags from System 7! (why)

idk but saying “micro star mystic light” like a sailor moon character makes it sound like your ultimate technique

have you read Jef Razkins works… just asking, since i feel some of his energy channeled through your post, and a bloodpotion alone was not good enough to convey my nodding and approval of this notion.

In a somewhat related, but wholly different tangent, i found out recently that some company ported an X client to DOS,

https://computer.rip/2021-09-08-W-X-Y-Z.html

which in hindsight is kind of a logical thing to do if you think about the then existing infra, but feels so wildy alien when you grew up experiencing Gem 5 as a DOS-based gui, and soon got access to win 3.11++ and, much later, linux (+then, you could dualboot already yet weren’t rich enough to have the Network equipment to have your own server-client architecture at home), and it reads like tales from another world.

No, I haven’t, although I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m indirectly influenced a few degrees removed.

You should at least take a look at his book “The humane interface” then, which is by now obviously quite outdated (man has left us too early), what with him missing a lot of development which would have surely made him adapt some theories to the technical progress made since then.

but nevertheless, some of his ideas are still sounding progressive when using UIs today, even though he postulated them 30+ years ago, and it manages to suggest some language for things you never knew you wanted to grasp as concepts and discuss with people that care about those minor things mainly unnoticed by the masses that are using them literally every day.

iirc, His son ended up doing some stuff for mozilla, so his legacy lives on to some degree, at least.

This has a target audience that is larger than every individual thinks, yet none will get their hands on it, so eeeehhh, idk. Could be vaporware as well!

… which doesn’t mean that i wouldn’t feel an urge to be happy it even exists in the first place!

I’m into the cream/brown aesthetic but it clashes with most cases. They need a Lian Li tower with anodized brown panels.

I just wanna see how huge 5nm Nvidia gets

they already pushed consumer 7nm up to 350w which was more than I was expecting

When I see shit like this I just imagine Steve Jobs howling in despair and smile

I’ve been trying to work out if an AirTag would fit in the spare blade holder of our pair of Stanley knives which we’re always losing, and whether they’d work through it lol

I can take measurements or test if you like?

The accuracy is incredible even if the design is dumb. I’m printing cases to make them look like a gym fob.

Good idea except that these logos are hideous. Why would I go out of my way to get certified in order to slap on a hideous logo
