Pixar has really been holding back ever since their bold gambit to make a kids movie about a dying jazz musician didn’t pay off
I will watch yet another movie about a dog with needs. Why not. Why not.
Bad Guys is also in the same zone, even a little better actually. That’s pretty much it though afaik
Wait hold the fuck on I actually watched this now and those two deer are definitely making a “and they were roommates” meme joke. I dunno that’s like, minus 3 points or something
minus three points if they made a road work I sure hope it does joke. neutral points for they were roommates, but plus ten points for ‘do it for the vine’ ambulance smash cut OR back at it again at crispy creme
And that’s when John Lassiter knew. He fucked up.
That is what it took, not three movies with beanmouth shit? I liked Luca, but did we need Turning Red and Elio to have the same boring human design? Is it because Soul dared to look “ugly” that they needed to double down with beanmouth shit for the mass appeal?
Ahahaha I have never heard this before but that is hilarious
I liked turning red too though actually. Well I liked parts of it until they had to give it an mcu style action sequence climax
the only thing I know about turning red is that one reviewer that was angry that the movie did not mention 9/11
the hilarity is most concentrated in people complaining about bean mouth
Luca was great, leaning into animation as the medium + having a story & acting. Ercole turning in profile to gloat and cackle like Ren Höek
Turning Red finale was a bit epic but I appreciate the symbolism & meaning from the rest of the movie making it more than a CGI stomp fest
I can’t stand the rest of Pixar soppy slop. they wring out all the interesting, different, potentially odious parts but leave in the boring tired formulas??
I couldn’t make it 5 minutes into Luca but thought Turning Red was OK. Soul caused a universal revulsion of all age groups at a recent family Christmas. I think modern Pixar just can’t really decide what it wants to do. They get stuck in trying to outguess the discourse of adult fans and end up compromising on plot stuff. 3D Disney seem to be able to get past this a lot better and just focus.
i really dislike pixar’s portrayal of psychological/metaphysical planes as these fuzzy rounded fisher-price/teletubbies blob worlds
if nothing else it’s honestly funny in itself that creating this type of thing is apparently irresistible for more than one person

I REGRET NOTHING.
bizarre religion where every single element of existence is an american suburban job
have disney and/or pixar yet made an animated movie with a black protagonist who doesn’t spend most of the runtime forcibly transformed into aomething else?

Brave, Soul, and Luca are the only Pixar movies I like from their shit period. They need to cool it with the one word titles. Fuck Frozen and Tangled for making them trendy. I don’t have any Luca art saved that isn’t shipping. But I really like how their credits were animated in Luca. Another case where the 2D art was better than the final product. Pixar needs to go back to making human characters in CGI appealing again. Sorry about the pish video quality. I can’t find the damn thing without the camera being pointed at a screen or the full credit sequence being short and/or the song being stroked down.
You wish. Best they can do is coding non human looking characters as the stand ins for the Black and/or Brown experience. I hate Pixar and 3D shift Disney as much as I hate John K and Illumination. At least Dreamworks try to diversify, even if they blighted you with Shrek.
were they ever, really? i do like The Incredibles in motion, but after seeing 2D storyboards i realise i like those even more
Wish
Oof, talk about a monkey’s paw
