Ah! I knew that! I mistakenly conflated the creative teams for Fujiko Mine and the OVA’s that follow it, which are also very booby and directed by Redline’s Takeshi Koike. In my defense, his fingerprints are still all over Fujiko, but as character designer/animation director rather than Big Boss Director.

I can’t remember if it was about Michiko & Hatchin or Fujiko Mine, but in some interview she was like “I just wanna make a show that ladies my age can come home after work, pop open a beer, and chill out with,” but I think that could fit for any of them and is an energy we need more of. It’s been 8 years since Yuri!
Will always think the Persona people should’ve hired her on to do some story supervision or something on Persona 5, instead of just the OP.

Speaking of which, the first episode of the new Panty And Stocking is out I don’t even like the original but I can’t believe how they went with the laziest possible retcon of the ending of the last season, that was the highlight of the entire show!!!

Very by the book cishet romance manga, but I really liked the story. Two high school students in current day (the '10s) Japan find each other through their mutual love of '80s idol Jpop. That would be me if it involved visual kei and anime music in the mid '00s. I used to burn CD’s of visual kei and anime songs to the girls I liked in high school. Though, I also had them listen to western bands loosely tied to the anime scene through licensed OP and ED songs, like The Delgados and boa. I actually got interested in visual kei during my freshman year, through this cute bitchy girl that I liked through my anime club. She was the type that wrote Jrock band names on her book bag with wite-out. I have reached out in all my apps in case anyone wanted to share or trade albums, after I have finished the manga, but no good luck or worthy matches yet. A lot of people raised on playlists and algorithms find going through albums instead harder. I prefer album by album: No random songs, singles, or music videos until I like and know them well enough to do DJ sets / mixes. If you let people stick to random songs, they will always find ways to give you boring Top 40 music because the album format died when YouTube playlists and Spotify shuffle caught on with people who don’t play music through physical media instead
I know that people see the Green Yuri Manga as music romantic friendship goals. Carole & Tuesday is still mine, even though it is not a romance story (either in anime or manga format) due to how infectious their happiness look when they perform together and sing. I can’t look at these OP and ED’s with no jealousy or envy about people that can find love and build friendships off their passion and mutual love for their respective music genres, while I have only found people that share my likes and dislikes with Rate Your Music and last.fm. I really, really hate my region.

I think record stores are gone where I live for this to happen to me. I mostly have bad memories about Nana and other '00s shoujo and josei given the issues I was going through when they aired. I got back to Paradise Kiss and still enjoyed it, though. I tried Honey & Clover, but I found it insufferable. You are better off with Kuragehime for that post high school life story. I can’t look at record stores without hearing The Concept.
