I have a buddy that has been trying to get people to watch this for as long as I’ve known him, and I get it now!! This show rips!! The animation style is cool and cute, there’s clearly a lot of money put into this, it’s got that 1997 Sunrise charm, dub’s good, cast is GREAT, the comedy lands and the action’s really fun. Really enjoying it.
Not sure why but a bunch of episodes are also all available on YouTube.
YES, god, very important to note, all the scenes with the villains are insane five-minute stretches of epileptic seizure-inducing flashing lights. Editing my post to note that.
I haven’t seen GaiGaiGar yet but it’s going to be hard to top the very end of the (terrible) Aura Battler Dunbine OVA that gives Paul Sharits a run for his money.
Not much that I can say about this show. It is just cute. This used to be on Netflix, then Max, and I can only watch it on YouTube. It is not deep, full of action, character drama, nor well written comedy, but I like their quick bite sized quests to countries using live action photos. Their once every episode friendship theme song is annoying, but you get used to it after some time.
Super late reply to that but there’s an unexpectedly stupidly fascinating answer to the question of why COW Boys of Moo Mesa exists, which I happened upon on a random french facebook page.
It starts with the smurfs.
The smurfs is, of course, a franco-belgian comic then owned by publisher Dupuis, the fourth animated adaptation of which was a cartoon show co-produced by Hanna-Barbera that met with titanic worldwide success. Hanna-Barbera found themselves with a golden goose and estimated that they could repeat the success with another of Dupuis’ best sellers.
They chose Lucky Luke, another long-running franco-Belgian classic starring an unbeatable gunslinger in the American Old West involved in both original stories and riffs on american history, sharing its golden age writer with Asterix. The show was a success in France, but a resounding flop in the US, and Hanna-Barbera hastily canned all plans for future seasons (other series would be produced by french studios years later).
But they’d made lots of production materials, especially lots of old west backgrounds. So when the time came for someone to make a TMNT ripoff on the cheap, well, it was only sensible to recycle all that stuff lying around which led to the wild west theme.
Finally got around to watching The Day the Earth Blew Up. It’s pretty good!
I hadn’t really kept any tabs on modern Looney Tunes stuff…well, ever, nor Eric Bauza since…sigh ʳᵉⁿ ᵃⁿᵈ ˢᵗⁱᵐᵖʸ’ˢ ᵃᵈᵘˡᵗ ᵖᵃʳᵗʸ ᶜᵃʳᵗᵒᵒⁿ …but they did a pretty good job. There’s a real…god I’m so rusty on my who’s who of Looney Tunes animators, but there’s an authenticity to the way they animate everything, Daffy in particular, that’s nice to see.

It really sucks shit seeing some calarts student films and knowing all that creative energy is going to be spent making a fucking Brickleberry revival or some shit.
Dog Man dropped on Peacock. I was able to watch it and had a blast. The Last Wish, The Bad Guys, and The Wild Robot were stylish, but this was unapologetically cartoony, just like the comics, and I loved every minute of it. I do wish the movie was longer, they speed ran through several books for them to adapt in 85 minutes. Judging by the IMDB score, it did not do good enough for Dream Works, at least not enough for them to renew their claim on the IP. A crying shame, because it is animated movies like these and my other Dream Work examples, that are doing better than Disney’s. I don’t feel it will win over critics, so if you got the slightest interest, or passing curiosity, on a incredibly cartoony movie, there is only 90 minutes at stake. I liked this as much as the latest Looney Tunes movie.
I watched like half an episode of Biker Mice From Mars and this cartoon has so much smoldering homoeroticism. my gaydar sounds like I’m about to find an anomaly in the zone. incredible.
