did they cancel it? I saw the things about commercials but I’ve been stealing from and not subscribing to netflix in a while
peter chung is posting a lot of fun behind the scenes stuff from his career on instagram
The password sharing crackdown makes no sense since they’ve been using “watch on more devices simultaneously” as a major upsell for months. People are paying lots of cash moneys to them to make password sharing work.
they’ve threatened a password sharing crackdown multiple times over the past couple years and I think its an empty threat to trick more people into subscribing themselves instead of an actual thing they’ll do
woah what the fuck is crisis jung, that looks cracking good
they changed the scheduling of it and decided to air the second batch of episodes all the way in the fall.
“French Ninja Slayer” would be a pretty accurate way to describe it. It’s limited animation with a shoestring budget, made as if someone wrote the dumbest script on earth then someone else thought it was a particularly gripping and emotional story and played it completely straight when bringing it to the screen.
The apocalypse occurs just as a young man named Jung is faced with his first relationship troubles. He wanders wastelands dominated by toxic masculinity in search of his girlfriend, righting wrongs along the way as a lone hero. In each episode he faces a new foe representative of a quality he feels he lacks, always losing until he has a talk with his therapist who offers insight that Jung then proceeds to apply in extremely dumb and literal ways, to great success. Be warned it is very violent and obscene, also very short (about an hour total) however I love it.
It was only on french Netflix for a while but you can find fansubbed episodes in the usual places. If you want something a bit less explicit (still quite NSFW though) another low budget french series, Lastman, was made by mostly the same crew and is really good too. That one’s about a lowlife boxer with a heart of gold, in a fictional sorta-80s setting, who gets embroiled in a mysterious cult’s conspiracy. Although it is a prequel to the french comic of the same name it’s fairly self-contained.
i’ve heard nothing but good things ab craig of the creek and i can’t wait to watch it one of these days
the kamandi dc showcase short has kinda mid animation but the color pallette and backgrounds are top tier exactly what you would want
uh…weird
owls house
I watched Weathering with You last night. I feel like it was a pretty good mood piece? Timely that I watched it because it’s been raining a ton in my area the past few weeks. The supernatural stuff is generally pretty understated-but-cool and it’s got a good sense of humor too. Likeable cast of characters. I dunno I’m bad at analysis this movie was pretty cute.
neat!
Castlevania: Nocturne, a new Netflix animated series, is officially in production.
The series is led by showrunner Kevin Kolde and Creator/Writer Clive Bradley and produced by Project 51 Productions with production services provided by Powerhouse Animation. Castlevania: Nocturne follows Richter, a descendant of the Belmont family, popularized in the iconic Symphony of Night and Blood of Rondo Castlevania games.
Without Warren Ellis to punch up the script I have a faint hope of this being better than the first show. But also a faint fear of it become another prestige tv bait show but this time with 90s PC Engine anime girls.
