The latest dtv Mortal Kombat cartoon is without merit of any kind. The fight scenes are middling, The characterization is weak, and the voice acting never feels like any of the voice actors were ever in a room together. It should be a hard pass, don’t make my mistake.

Its so bad, I was rather surprised with the second one having a bit of character to it after the generic original but this took a hard dive into nothing (new director was a big warning light)
i finished bee and puppycat earlier. could’ve done without the weird bathroom and body humor stuff ( though it was mostly with puppycat so i guess it’s supposed to be cute? ) but i liked it overall. i found the middle part of the second season to drag in some places and i’m still mad that there was only one flashback ep for puppycat lore but whatever i guess.
i’d prob watch it again

Shame, still feel like the first one is the best of the lot so far. It at least had some style to it.
entergalactic is almost, almost beautiful enough an animation to get me past the sort of generic rich NY art kid ennui. as a rom com liker i can usually get past when people have vague upper middle class success jobs like architect or magazine editor or running a christmas hotel or whatever but when the characters are both supposed to be aritsts and the art is constantly front and center then i have to start thinking about what is and is not actually cool or interesting about their work and hmm. like it’s actually adult and sexy and fun but i wish this incredibly cool vibe and great look was in the service of something that did not feel like characters who are hanging out in the background of an episode of GIRLS. as a series of music videos for entergalactic the album it’s pretty good though

(also extremely curious to see this mix of Wing, Utena, Evangelion, and G-Gundam and how it plays out. This could be like, a perfect Tigress anime if it doesn’t fuck up from here)
