Yeah Vewn!
Arcane, a cartoon based on league of legends, I think its art style reference from Bioshock, show up in some non-dispress way
Tracy Morgan taking over the main role in Squidbilles for the final season makes a kind of galaxy brain casting sense
Holy shit Squidbillies is still on??
That’s forever “the new show that was about to debut when I stopped really paying attention to Adult Swim”
I watched 6 episode of Arcane, not much impression if you don’t play League of Legends. Most of chapter is weak, and as a lunatic, Jinx in this show is not very special in cine world. I will abandon this show, even I was a 7 years player on League.
But I notice lots of marketing bots is active now on twitter or media, Riots try to keep its rating and heat, I think they cannot accept this show will end like Marvel’s Netflix television series on their BANDAI dream.
i saw it pop up on my netflix and i was curious, like it looked like it has a strong visual style for a netflix animation and the story sounded fun at least … but then i noticed it was a league of legends thing and immediately couldn’t be bothered learning enough to get invested
this show hiding lots of information needed, and thought the viewers already known, at least know what history of two cities. They forgot to describte more background but only focus on their champions. Too business drive.
btw Marvel’s Luke Cage on netflix is a gem, not like other adaptations. They don’t mechanistic repeat the storyline. It’s more like a modern-urban-poem of black community hood, at finally. Very worth it, but I think their oringinal comic fans don’t like it lol.
yeah the early marvel Netflix stuff was legit good, shame it had like no shelf life
Season one of Jessica Jones was legit thrilling but I can’t remember anything about 2. Was there a season 2?
Both seasons of the Punisher were a fun watch imo tho you have to have a certain tolerance for B grade DTV action and the themes of each season are bizarrely incongruent
Daredevil is unwatchable
Daredevil is some fun action stuff, but the law side of it is painful. He’s the worst lawyer ever. Foggy’s a loveable goof helping local people draft their wills and Matt’s deciding to commit all his resources to defending the Punisher pro bono, and saying he gets to decide who’s guilty or not before accepting a case and a million other sort of ethics violations that could get him disbarred, but… I don’t know. I enjoyed it at the time but looking back there’s so much that could have been done better.
edit: I disagree about it being unwatchable but not about it being terrible I guess is what I am trying to say. I can definitely see how any actual lawyer would be unable to put up with how their world gets depicted
jessica jones made a nice diptych with izombie a few summers ago, both occupying the genre “superpowered girl detective with a shambolic life”
i think there is an argument to be made that jessica jones s1 is the only good marvel thing. i mean, again, i enjoy this stuff, but it is crap. that show actually felt like it had something to say, and was pretty terrifying to watch. i dunno how well it holds up to repeat viewings though, and i never got around to watching the second season.
Yeah I can’t comment on its cinematic quality because the lawyer shit made me put my fist through the TV halfway through the first episode. Can’t watch police procedurals either. It’s impossible.
And they’re both veronica mars gaiden (izombie was made by the vm showrunners, the jessica jones actress was a regular in vm)
On Arcane: just to provide another perspective, I’ve never played League and I found the storytelling more than adequate. Like, if anybody’s going to stay away, 100% do that particularly if you have opposition to Riot or this production in particular, but the animation did impress me. If I’d looked at the wiki category for LoL champions before watching this show instead of afterwards, I probably wouldn’t have watched, and I would have expected something a lot more generic/tropey/store-brand Blizzard than what it turned out to be. Maybe stream or torrent this one from non-Netflix sources if you’re curious.
Tennant’s tiny recurring role as shoulder-devil was good, and Ritter makes for a fantastic sourpuss. but i admit i can’t remember what happened in season two v three at this point
Daredevil season 1 is good, season 3 is easily my favorite of any of the Marvel TV show content.
Finished He-Man Revelation season 2. Holy shit that ruled. Mark Hamill and Lena Headey as Skeletor and Evil-Lyn brought the goods in a major way.
Really love how comfortable this show is with being goofy as hell without compromising on the over-the-top action. Really a joy to watch.
