Anyone else had Sheep’s milk ice cream? I had some in Taiwan, it tastes … sheepy

where did you get it? that sounds wild

It was at Cingjing Farm, which is pretty much right in the middle of Taiwan in the mountains. If I remember right, it kind of had a flavour reminiscent of that sheep wool smell you get at country fairs etc

My 2 favorite greek yogurts are Fage and Zoi. Always 5%/whole fat.

But I also only get plain yogurt, because I do a low carb diet and flavored yogurts have a ton of sugar in them.

Fage is like 1/3 of the way to sour cream. Its quite thick. Really high protein. Very low on natural milk sugars. Its fine plain, but it is slightly sour. I usually mix it with raw black Maca. As that has a natural butterscotch sort of flavor to it. or some blueberries. or both.

Zoi is very different. It like whipped or something. Its fluffy.

Its lower protein than Fage. But that higher fat ratio definitely is tastey. The whipped quality makes it feel lighter/less thick. Its on the sweeter side and does have a few grams of milk sugars still in there. Very nice to eat plain. but also excellent with stuff mixed in. Its also lower cost than Fage and even frequently on further sale.

I found that new flavor----and then bailed on it, for this instead:

Next time I’m actually gonna get the banan peanut butter chip. And then we will know if I made a mistake tonight or what.

Until then…chubby hubby was solid. I wish the maltyness were twice as strong. I dunno why, but most of the time, in these modern times, when a shake or ice cream is described as “malty” or having malt as a core component: its just not that malty. But every now and then, you find a good impression of a retro milkshake and you are like, oh yeah, that’s what true malt is.

The pretzels in this thing were good. They are the big chunk square pretzels. So, they retain their crunch. But, they are kind tough to dig out.

I think it would be better if the peanut butter and chocolate were thicker ribbons, rather than the more homogenous swirls. I think with a flavor like this, some separation is key to the overal taste.

I suspect a bit of Himalayan salt will make it seem more malty. Chubby hubby is a good flavor, but wasn’t good enough for me to finish the whole pint. So, I will try adding some salt, when I finish it.

I have encountered a new junk food technology: raisins covered in Sour Patch Kids dust. They are good.

I can eat maybe half a child sized carton before I feel them eroding holes in my mouth tissues.

Huh! I’ll have to look for those. I love raisins.

I’ve been on a Chuckles kick lately, purely because that’s what Travis Bickle settles for at the porn theater.

I’d be a total mess if it weren’t for Kebbler ‘Tato Skins living on as TGI Friday’s branded chips that are only available at really weird stores.

For chocolate I’ve been trying to only got for those nice pricey bars with fruit and sea salt and whatnot once in a while rather than chowing down on Twix on the reg.

TGI Friday’s Cheddar Bacon Potato Skins are amazing.

They weren’t available anywhere in Anchorage, when I was stationed there. So I’d occasionally order a box on the internet, for way too much money.

Ok Ben and Jerry’s “Chubby Hubby” Update:

adding Himalayan salt did indeed improve the situation. Actually gave it a bit of a butterfinger zip to it.

As I noted before, this flavor is pretty good. However, it relies too heavily on the pretzels. Of which there aren’t enough, to have pretzel in nearly every bite. And I hate it when ice cream becomes work, hunting for the right bite. and when the pretzels were gone, I didn’t really want to finish the leftovers.

could any of our UK button mashers comment on the exceeding goodness (or lack thereof) of Mr. Kipling’s cakes? been curious ever since I saw the ads parodied in an episode of The Goodies a few years back.

they’re probably the best prepackaged supermarket cakes you can get, but obviously not in the same league as cakes from an actual bakery
