I gave this a shot and even though it’s immediately ugly (how can you make a golden wheat field type of environment ugly, that’s a real achievement) it doesn’t feel like an out of season April’s fool joke anymore. Team Ninja know what they’re doing when it comes to combat systems. The game feels nice and it’s got a boatload of mechanics.
I didn’t play very far though because the game is hard and it’s such a different play style from Nioh… I play Nioh very cautiously and measured and that keeps the tension high for me. You can’t approach this game the same way. It’s more in your face and more character action leaning than souls leaning, I feel.
I mean, I’ve got some time on my hands right now so maybe I’ll play more

I have but only find it worthwhile coop. I should’ve specified that tap-square gameplay is only preferable as an art & story delivery system and the hundredth version of anime ROT3K doesn’t do it for me anymore
Dynasty Warriors doesn’t have fancy animations. You have to play Samurai Warriors or any of the franchise-based spin-offs for any moves that actually look cool.

samurai warriors 4 also has hyper attacks which are one of the greatest things ever put into an action game. samurai warriors is the fucking best
