Bloodstained: being a castlevania fan is a complex relationship

When a demon’s castle darkens the land, two sisters challenge its halls. Together they can break the curse. Development has begun on a 2D action platformer starring two demon hunters on a mission to save their school! Official site: http://GrimGuardians.com

Players take control of the two sisters with different attacks and capabilities to challenge the demon castle and the bosses waiting within. Discover new routes through the castle using the sisters’ unique abilities!

The stars of Grim Guardians are the long-distance focused “Shinobu Kamizono” and the close-range brawler “Maya Kamizono.” Players will need to consider the situation when choosing which sister to control as they make their way through the castle, investigating the mystery of what happened to their school and its students.

Other features include 2-player co-op with special actions, extensive difficulty options with the “Style System,” unique changes on repeat plays, and most importantly the quality and challenge players have come to expect from Inti Creates titles, this time with a new gothic horror aesthetic.

I do hope the voice volume is configurable.

yeah these aren’t moeblobs, those things haven’t really been mainstream in like a decade. These are just generic and boring character designs

regular videogame voice acting is dire

idk whose take on here it was originally but soooo many things should just be text boxes

hmm, i thought i might’ve been misusing it but they’re definitely moe and don’t have any other qualities that leap out to me

anyway i’m not mad, or anything, just picky

the “blob” part implies their faces are just sort of gelatinous wobbly circular shapes. idc what wiktionary says, they aren’t moeblobs! they’re still boring character designs, but words mean things! now if you’ll excuse me, I have even dumber things to go gatekeep :triumph:

the sprites and animations look cool, and the voices are unremarkable

how are they moe when they’re jumping around, casting spells, and cutting monsters in half? the whole point of moe characters is that they never do anything even slightly cool or exciting

i thought we’d moved past this kind of thing by now tbh

That was me and it’s never been more true.

I also find all the Nintendo squeals and wahoos unlistenable and this is simply of a piece. Thanks for calling me a cartoon racist or whatever though

there is precedence for that kind of somethingawful nonsense here in the past though

(i also think that voice acting is generally a waste of resources that just pointlessly bloats game budgets)

It makes sense that this has come up a few times now in the Castlevania thread considering it wasn’t anime until it was, but it’s all cool, any preference for or against anime is incorrigible by now and it’s all welcome

I scarcely know my moeblob taxonomy and some may never know Touhou Lunar Nights is a great game but c’est la vie
